Default 12 bolt for SoloII

I currently have a Moser 12 bolt.
I don't see me drag racing much anymore, just not into it.

I AM however ready for the next season of autox.

I've been thinking to sell the 12 bolt and go back to a stock rear.
This nets me money for new race tires, control arms.
This also will lower my over all race weight.
(i'm also broke right now cuz i just bought a house in august)

good idea?

Thanks for any opinions!

I couldn't tell you if it's a benefit or not, but regardless of your other mods, it's going to bump you into an uncompetitive class.

Since you have a Firehawk (nice choice by the way) you have to at a minimum, run in E Street Prepared (ESP) There, you're allowed to do most external engine mods, no internal mods and the only rear change you can make is to the differential itself. So if you've done any internal mods you don't want to reverse, it may be worth keeping since you're going to be bumped out of ESP, but I don't know for sure.

i haven't spent much time caring about my autox class until fairly recently.

I have engine internals now(blew the last motor and decided to go pretty much bullet proof since then)

I'm thinking to go from my 4.11 12 bolt rear to a stock size 3.73 rear from my buddy's t/a. I'd then use the 1000$ toward new tires and a trans rebuild(rebuild is in need by spring...trust me)

oh...thanks for the "hawk" compliment.
i have the "level 2" suspension from SLP.

I'm not even 100% sure of what that includes.
Eibach springs(don't know which ones) and bilstein shocks(again....not sure which ones) In my local autox segment i've pretty much dominated the ESP class(which i now realize i shouldn't have been in) I like to stay in ESP 'cuz there aren't many more modded fbodies in my area that run autox.

Right now, i'd like to pretty much beat EVERY time, which is within reach with some luck, practice and suspension adjustment.

Come on spring!

It's actually a fairly small region. There's a good mix of cars(yes Miatas asswipe )

About the highest, in fastest time, i ever was was 3rd behind a Mini Cooper S and a Shelby Cobra kit car.

We have 3 or 4 guys that race nationally.

This region is obviously not overly competitive but WAY fun!

Looking forward to checking out the 3 winter events that they have every year. Hopefully we'll have some serious snow to make it even more interesting. (the Hawk will be waiting at home till spring of course)

Great job on the Miata's then. They wipe the floor with everything but the shifter karts or one or two E-mod cars here. Race rubber and 20yr veterans behind the wheel are hard to beat. I only pick off one or two of them when we get lucky and have a course that has some room to open high hp cars up. Usually there's too many tight turns to get my brick moving.

try some road course action in drivers ed events. open tracks are better suited for our big *** cars, more so than autocross. both are fun, although RR/DE is 100 TIMES more fun.

by the way, i love my moser 12 bolt with 4.10 (except for the seriously loud whine). i autocross about 2 times per month and open track about 6 days a year. all with kumho v700's. i will probably switch to 3.73's over this winter for the DE stuff; its better suited.

Yeah, ran on a road course for the first time last year. We rented out a track for a 2 day event. It was a blast, but it's too expensive to do on a regular basis, so I'm stuck with threading cones for now. You like 3.73 gears as opposed to 4.10's for autocrossing?

If you're looking to sell the rear still, I've got a takeout 10 bolt w/ 4.10's that I might be able to do a partial trade for...

It only has around 30,000 miles on it since new.
