Default Brake Ducting Install Pics

These were taking from a page that Steve Sampson had put up in the late 90's, I found a copy of them but the website is no longer up.

Just passing them along, I installed a simliar set on my 530rwhp Vortech'd LT1 car before running Road Atlanta, and they worked well.

The old website was http://www.nw-fbody.org/steve.htm

There's also another link to some fancier NACA style ducts:

I'm curious to know how well this setup actually works. is there any benifit from doing this on a daily driven car or is it only a good idea for road course use?

yup, sure are. I copied Steve's setup back in 2000. Been on ever since. Had to change the hoses out once.

Yeah the stock tips work great and are actually a little stealth!

This setup probably won't be noticed as a benefit in daily driving but for road racing, open track days, mountain runs, etc. You will definitely notice a difference in how long your brakes will last before beginning to fade.

It won't turn stock brakes into brembos or anything, but will help to fight fade and assist greatly in cooling.

The Naca ducts mounted on the sides isnt really the hot set up you want you ducts to be as close to center as possible... higher pressure...

It's not that bad CTSmechanic, if you think about it, some of the air impacting the center front of the air dam will be routed to the sides of the air dam (it is kinda pointy), so you'll get a significant amount of air flow at the edges as the air from the center is pushed into the air on the outside edge. I think that will increase the pressure a bit.

ya know, concerning cuttout off peices of the air dam for the brake ducts, would that lead to any type of cooling problems since all the air these car gets comes from that thing?

Have had no problems with overheating for over 80k miles. Also have the SLP CAI which somewhat blocks the radiator. Still no issues.
