Default Not your normal AX. This one is Awesome, Trust me. (East TN)

This one is not in some flat parking lot. This is on an actual race track complete with banked turns. Here, Check out the Videos. Look to the right of the screen and you'll see the other 4.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...=411+autocross

On that back straight I was hitting the top of second which is 80 mph in my car. Then brake and hold the top of first around the banked turn which would be about 50. Hit second and get about 65 before I'd get to what I called the Up, Up, Down, Down, Up. Watch the video and that'll all make sense to you. As you can see lots of almost 90 degree turns, but they are smooth and most cars kicked out on those and that just adds to the fun. Coming out of the final turn I was sliding a little sideways until I hit the rev limiter for first which was usually about 10ft before I'd go through the finish gates. And all that and I wasn't even pushing my car to the limits.

Hurry though, It's March 4th, 2007
Registration is $45 and you just have to print off the form and send it in. Sorry, but you can't just show up. Trust me though, It is absolutely worth it. Oh and ANY car can run. By April the track will be converted to dirt, so, there is no "I'll go next year to this one". This is it.

Registration Form

1 Spot Left sunday

411 Motor Speedway
632 Highway 411
Seymour, TN 37865

(A little southeast of Knoxville, Tennessee)

UPDATE:

For a total of $65 you can run this autocross two days in a row.

How?
The saturday before that, on March 3rd, The local Porsche Club is also having an Any car autocross at the exact same place. http://www.pca.org/smt/MarchMadnessAX.html $20, no registration required.

So, ever wanted to have a two day autocross here is your chance.

MAP

Good photo-like map for those that need it. The street number is wrong because it puts the star in the right place. You should be able to see the track when you click on aerial image.

Oh, It's easier than it looks.

The first time I watched a video of it, I thought the same thing. But we had a driver meeting where we walked the track and when your actually driving you don't get lost. I Never DNFed. I also never hit a cone.

When your driving it's quite logical.

I snooze easily during some autocross vids on the flatness, but that one was awesome!

My favorite was the first C5 and the early 70's Camaro... very nice.

That is not set. But I'd say at least 8 and probably more depending on how many show up and how everything goes. Cut off for sunday is 36, each run is usually 75 seconds or less, I think we have about 7 hrs of drive time, all that works out to 9.3, so, it very well could be 10 each with 36 cars.

Passengers are fine if they also have a helmet.

What type of helmet is required? I have been wanting to get into the road course thing, but I am not very familiar with it.

Well, last time I ran in an motocross helmet. And a friend of mine used an open face helmet. But, I'll still see what I can find out.

Ok, I have posted all three of your questions over on SCMC, the main forum in this case. I'm pretty sure about the first two, but the third I'm not. I imagine any motorsports helmet would probably be ok.

Here is what I posted.
"Somebody help me with a few questions from my post on LS1Tech.
What type of helmet is required?
Are passengers allowed to ride?
How many times can you run each day?

I told him passengers are ok and you'd get at least 8 runs a day, but I didn't know what to say about the helmets. Last time I ran a motocross helmet and it seemed to be ok. So, I said that any motorsports helmet would probably be ok. Thanks, Steven"

Here is the response I got.

"Motorcycle helmets are fine.
Passengers are allowed, but must be helmeted as well. There are usually a few loaner helmets available.
I believe we usually get 8ish runs a day. Depends on light, weather, and driver fatigue."

And now that I think about it, I do remember seeing about 5 or 6 track helmets sitting there for people to use.

By the way,

Even if you're just watching you can still ride with anybody who will let you. If you don't have your own helmet, the track has a few there. But if you do have one, I'd bring it just incase, because the track only has a few of them.

I hear ya it's -2 right now, with a -17 wind chill. I spent the weekend tuning out some idle issues on my car. Then starting and running some logs wishing that I would be able to take it out for a spin.

Maybe is time for some snow drifting rally action!

Alright!, glad you decided to do it. What a way to start. You're going to absolutely love it.

And look for the black C6 Corvette, I'll let you ride along a few times and it'll really help you learn the track. I'll be there with several friends and they're going to want to ride with me the rest of the time though.
