Ran a 9 flat in my stock Camaro SS with the only mod being 18" TT2's. Thinkin Borla CB & LS6 swap will help in the straights.

The track is unforgiving , but not Brutal. If you want brutal take on Hockenheimring.

Roy,

It seems that some portion of the track is an actual road used by civilians.
Is there a charge to go on these tracks?
or how does it work?

No, neither N'ring nor Hockenheimring are partly "normal roads".
It works like this: Arrive, pay and drive. Quite easy.

The Nurburgring is officially(legally) a limited access public toll road. Any vehicle can drive it and you must always be wary lest you come around a corner to find a really slow vehicle in your way. I believe it was 16Euro a lap when I was there last year. If you don't have your own car(or don't want to risk damaging your rental) try a lap with Zakspeed. Dodge Viper GT-R and he can break the 8 minute barrier. One lap with Zakspeed showed me how slow I truly am.

You just drive up to the entrance, pay for your lap, and when the bar lifts you're lap starts. I remember that the drive to it takes you right by the BMW test facility...at least the route we took.
