Default Following a WS6

Don't see many LS1 powered F-bods out at the track days I attend, so it was great to have gotten some footage of this WS6 (pardon the blurred focus).
We're driving completely opposite lines (his late apexes to my momentum carrying early apexes), so it makes for interesting comparison.
The LS1's pull on the straights put a huge smile on my face. Makes me want more power!

Enjoy.

My line at Sebring is more similar to yours but not quite as early an apex in some turns. Here is one lap from an event back in April and if you want to compare yours starts at about 1:09 into mine.

Yeah, I've been the guy in the f-body. I was getting frustrated at the lighter(momentum) cars at my last outing. Then an instructor explained that it was partly the difference in lines. Later in the weekend I got more comfortable and faster so they weren't such an issue any more. In fact, during most of the last session I was chasing a Lotus around the track! This is on a lower speed track where those light cars will eat you up. Now on a higher speed track, my SS leaves most of them behind.

BTW, I was never impressed with the RX8s until I got on the track with one. They do corner well. There is a big difference in the dynamics of the cars. That is why you run your line and not follow someone elses.

Yes, that is the f-body line. We are still going straight when other cars would be starting their turn.

Since Lotus's ae pretty popular in Europe I tend to be chasing a lot of them.

Your turn in mark is definately later than mine at the Oak Tree and Tower turns, as well as thru the S's before the back straight. If I'd turn in that late, my car would bog (no torque!).

I just crunched some video laptimes and I'm running 2:45 consistantly. Dipped into 2:44 once. 4 visits ago to Sebring, I was running low 2:50's. So, seat time really makes a difference.

The biggest drop in time came 3 visits ago, when a friend of mine showed me the momentum line. It dropped times by about 5 seconds.

Never drove that car on a road course. Sold it right after attending road racing school but before getting into driving at HPDE's. 11 sec. sled of a car in the hands of a rookie driver didn't make sense to me.
