Default TH400 or Powerglide

We're at the point where I need to decide on a transmisson for my current project. Its a 2900lb turbo LS1 that we're shooting for 8.0-8.5s. I want it to be reliable but it would be nice to be somewhat streetable for that once in a while cruise. What trans would be the best option?

i've got a glide in a 3000lb 69 camaro with a 509 running NA on 114oct... it doesnt 60' the greatest but for a bracket car its just what it needs...
1.40 60'
4.000 330'
6.1x-.2x depending on weather and where.

make sure and get the sfi case with it... it will save you hassle.

I like the glide. They need a lot of stall though. I loved mine.

If the $ isn't an option, a rossler TH210 would be my choice. That's a serious race built TH400.

Glide is a little lighter though, and less parts/power loss, and if you think that traction could possible be an issue at any point, it would me a way to calm the car down for the first 300 feet some.

I went thru this same debate, but I chose a glide also. The main reason is I can leave the line with alot more power and it won't blow the tire's off,due to the higher 1st. gear. I also think the drivability will come in with the converter you choose. In my 3600lb. car I love the glide. One of the best choices I have made.
