Default What cylinder head for my 415ci? *Advice needed*

ShortBlock Specs:
Iron Block lq4 bored 4.065
Eagle 4.00" crank/rods/arp rod bolts
diamond custom flat top -5.5cc pistons
total seal ap rings set
Comp XE R lobes, 238/244@.050 114+2 cam
ect....

Ive had the hardest time picking a head for this motor.

Goals:
12:1 or higher compression(the more the better)
500rwhp na and 7xx+ nitrous tune while using a port matched ls6 intake manifold

I need to know if an aftermarket head is worth that much more than a stock cast. To me, in the big picture, a 10 to 20 hp difference between a cnc stock cast and aftermarket head for a price difference of 1000 dollars is not reasonable, as if i want to make up the power ill just change the jets in my nitrous and fuel lines.

So any advise you guys my have for me would be much appreciated as im looking to purchase some new heads in the next week or two. Thanks

I believe an LS7 top end may well fit!

I would look at the TFS 235's from TEA. It will have a thicker deck surface than a LS7 for nitrous use and it will work with your LS6 intake manifold.

The LS7 heads really need 4.10" bore sizes as a bare minimum, so they don't really fit this build. You could look into L92 heads, but those large chambers will not help you reach the compression goals you stated. A 61cc chamber with a .040" thick gasket and the short-block you listed will net you right at 12.50:1 SCR. You can get that chamber size via a 5.3L head or a milled LS6 head if you want GM castings. If you're looking at the aftermarket, AFR and TrickFlow both offer cylinder heads that will do the trick and get you very nice power.

We offer all of the above and can help you choose a head that fits your needs and goals best! Let us know if we can help

I'd say power for the money would be the L92's. I've had great results and couldn't be happier. I am running about 12.2:1 compression with mine. Running great on 93 octane.

If you search on Ebay you'll find a guy who sells bare All Pro castings for $700 including guides. They're as cast, but you can have them finished for $150 to have the guides installed and $180-200 for a good valve job. You'll need springs and valves, but you can get valves for $240 and springs for $250. You'll have a 230cc after market casting with a thick deck, solid rocker pad, 1/2 inch pushrod holes, etc... for $1600. That's about the same as you'd be able to get a set of stock ported castings for.

They come with 64cc chambers. My local head place only charges $70 for a mill. Mill .021 and you'll be good to go according to Matt@TSP's calculations.

have you had any experience with porting them? I am just wondering why they fall off so severely at .600 lift. Have you built any high compression 400+ inches with these heads?
