Default Any good aftermarket strut mounts??

I busted one of mine when installing the konis and bought and aftermarket one. Well the aftermarket one I got the bolts coming up through the shock tower are barely long enought to get the nut over. My friend also stripped one of them trying to put the original nut on it. I would like to replace it but don't want to spend over $100 on a OEM one but don't want to buy another piece of crap aftermarket one. Has anyone had a good experience with a certain aftermarket brand or am I better off just forking over the money for an OEM one?

For the 4th gens the only shock mounts that have proven to last are the OEM stockers. All the replacement part suppliers' mounts either fail or the treads strip out during installation.

Strano has replacment shock mounts. They are good quality but they are more expensive then the stock replacments. I have them on my car but it hasn't moved yet.

Moog. They're OEM style. $78 at Advance, but they will need to order it most likely.

AVOID: Duralast, Gabriel, Monroe. They're all the same. I know this because I tried them all.

Even the Moog ones have issues, in this case it really is best just to use AC Delco's.

Really? It worked perfectly for me. I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference, in fact. If they'd given it to me in a non-Moog box and called it AC Delco, I would most likely have believed them.

the last set of moogs I got recently were junky, made overseas and right and left were made in different countries too...... The gabriels picked up from auto zone and other places are junky, and the masterpro's from oreileys are junk too. I don't think anyone makes a good one anymore that will bolt right in with all the studs and threaded inserts lining up with the towers, and doesn't have issues with spinning the threaded inserts where you can't tighten it up.

I ended up using the moogs but resorted to just knocking out the studs and threaded inserts and used grade8 nuts and bolts because of the inadequately fastened threaded inserts spinning over while tightening the bolts. That and the studs and hardware didn't match side to side... the studs were different colors, different heights, had different threads, and different looking nuts as well. Obviously a result of being made in different countries.. hopefully the mounts themselves will hold up.

I'd say a GM set of the mounts is probably the way to go, hopefully they are still a good part. Who knows these days... good replacement parts are harder and harder to find anymore. If you end up with some GM pieces please report back how they work out for you.

you don't have to. The Napa brand is a very good unit. I did my research on it and several of the Auto-x guys on here use it without issue. I bought it and it was a stout piece. I am currently running it on my car. if you like, i can find you part numbers, but you shouldn't need it. just get the napa brand and an isolator for either side and be done with it. the mount costs about 100 each from napa. well worth it though

I wonder why UMI, BMR, or Spoohn doesn't make a 4th gen strut mount?

Default Anything new on what fits?

Digging up an old thread but it fits what I'm asking. I have to replace the shock mounts and as stated in this thread, the stock GM parts are expensive compared to auto part stores. I bought a pair from Autozone which I just found out are Gabriel mounts. O'Reilly's and PepBoys have Monroe mounts. NAPA is showing the same part number as Monroe mounts - 902948 and 902947. Advance sells the Monroe part and can order the Moog - Part no. K6516, K6517. Is there still a problem with using non-dealer parts? Is it still better to go with the Moog part, which will take a couple of days to arrive?

Thanks!
