Angry Rear end sits too high after "lowering"...

I just installed Hotchkis springs and Bilstein shocks yesterday. Now the rear end is sitting way too high compared to the front. I though it would drop a little after driving it, but it didnt. The front did drop a little though. It looks really stupid and I'm embarrased to drive it. Is there anything I can do? What about removing the rear sping isolators? Or maybe shaving them down? Anyone done this? Thanks

Removing the rear spring isolator should lower around 1/2 inch so that may help out. Also letting the springs settle a little to see if it goes lower.

Are you sure that the springs are seated properly?

As stated above, wait for it to settle a bit. If you're still not happy with the looks of it, then remove the rear isolators and replace with 5/8 heater hose.

Not yet, I plan to see if it will settle. I also noticed that my rear is horribly off center. Maybe centering it will make the back look a little lower.

My car came from the factory that way . . . reminded me of that look back in the '70's when everyone raised the rear end of their cars. I swapped the issolator for heater hose as mentioned above, but it still wasn't enough so I cut the springs.

That's odd, because when I put the exact same setup
on, it looked like mine was dragging ***. Might unhook
the shocks and check that both isolators are turned to
bump their seating channel against the coil ends, one
time.

I didnt understand that last part. They are seating correctly. I know I am overexagerating (sp?), It's not as bad as the old muscle cars were. I will take some pics.

Hmmm, Hotchkis, typically has great stance, that still looks good, but you are correct about it being a little high, better then tha damned Eibachs that drag th *** of the car on the ground . . . .

The back looks higher than stock from your finger method. I have a friend who got the Hotchkis and we measured a 1 inch drop up front and maybe 1/4" drop in back. But that was when he first got it so maybe it will settle.

I wouldn't call that way too high. It does sit higher, but you typically need more suspension travel in the back with the high unsprung weight of the rear axle. Just the nature of the beast. Hardly something I'd be embarrassed to ride around with, and it'll probably settle a bit more with some miles on those springs as well.

I think it looks fine. I'd take the extra rear travel. It is needed. I didn't really notice it in the pic of the whole car. I'd leave it. It may settle, if you change something and then it settles, you may be "fixing it again".

My thoughts.

What I mean is, the open coil at the top of
the spring sits in a channel that is also "ramped"
and the end of the open coil should be at the
end of that channel up against the "wall".

My Hotchkiss were a dead-on 1" drop all around.
I measured before & after. I put back about 1/2"
rise in back with air to get the proper "Camaro
rake". With that my stance is about like yours.
I say, enjoy not hitting the bump stops....
