The goal is to try to keep as many off the shelf replacement parts as possible. The spacers have a built in steam vent, otherwise, I figure I have to do something custom.

Also, was there a tensioner change necessary for that pump?
You are correct on the vent, "Jags that run adapter" it was used to adjust radiator hose dia. and well as provide a tap for the steam vent.
...
Tensioner had to be replaced, I also replaced idler pulley to adjust the belt length to match the C5 vet.

I'm finally getting back into this now that there is a little bit of a lull in the action. I picked up the new 2010 pump and idler. I'm trying to figure out which upper rad hose to run with the kit. I was looking at the 98-02 f-body upper to work with the 98-02 f-body radiator, but it's too long and from the looks of it, everyone else is doing a customer job. I could probably just cut it and use a coupler, but if there is an off the shelf solution, that would be awesome. Fewer cuts = fewer chances to leak.

Thanks for posting the pics, I'm going to use the same stuff except I'm getting the spacers with the steam vent port in them. Right now I'm using a truck pump and the hose coming up off the top passenger side makes a mess of the engine bay.
Just for the sake of clarity - the ls3 pump uses 1.5 inch spacers, not .75? Want to make sure before buying something.

Autometer also makes what you describe, I'm using one (though might stop when I swap radiator hoses). Not sure what, if any, price difference there might be.

Water pump is in. Needed a new idler pulley as well as I needed to pick up a new bolt to mount the tensioner pulley. I ended up keeping the F-body hose and using the hose coupler as well. Went with an 82" belt, really needs an 83" belt on it.

I think you need to look at your belt routing, seems like it different then most.

Getting that top belt back down might be worth considering from a safety perspective. That hose situation looks ideal though, that's what I'm shooting for. Right now it looks like Doug's, which is fine for a carb but is less than ideal when running a car intake.
Helpful pics though.

Thanks for the input. What is the belt routing supposed to be? The Dirty Dingo setup I have has one tensioner and two idler pulleys on it. There is the one you can see in the picture and then there is one down low between the crank pulley and the p/s pulley. I'll post a pic if I can.

From the looks of some of the pics I'm seeing, it looks like the belt would go around the bottom of the water pump which would reverse the direction, right? Any idea where to find the rotation directions of the various accessories?

OK, after taking another look at things, the 78" (K060780 Gates) belt works, maybe a 78.5" would be better, but I'm not sure how much range the tensioner should have once the belt is on.

All the 2010 camaro pumps are truck spacing and need no spacers. The only ls3 pump that is different spacing is the corvette pump. There is a 11/2 difference in spacing between the Camaro pump and corvette pump I would just buy the Camaro pump and drill and tap a hole for the steam vent in the top if you have no other place for it . They also make a fitting to put it in top rad hose

I have a set of spacers and stainless bolts to run the 2002 Camaro pump with the truck accessories. They have a hole for the steam line. Ill sell them for $25.00

That was my confusion then, Corvette vs F body, thanks for the clarification.
I already use that fitting, but it's a less than elegant solution since you're running a line from the front of the motor to the radiator hose. I'll just buy whichever pump I come across at a decent price then space/ drill as needed. Doubling the potential for leaks aside the spacer solution is appealing because a pump replacement wouldn't require drilling and tapping again.

That's what we did. Drilled out a spot in the spacer for the steam vent.

OK, so a bit of a resurrection again, but since I'm working on the Chevelle now, I have the same water pump issue. I'm going to order the 2010+ pump, but I cannot remember from the last time I did this if I need to pick up a new belt tensioner or not. I don't think I do, I think I just needed to find a different bolt to mount to the new water pump housing.

Can anyone that did the this swap let me know what they did? It looks like the original p/n for the truck motor is 12609719. It looks like the tensioner pulley p/n for the 2010 Camaro is 12628025.

Looking at the pictures of the tensioners, the truck one has two bolts and the Camaro has three. It looks like there might be two common bolt holes, although it might mount further forward on the Camaro pump vs. the truck pump.

Looks like about $150 for the pump and $105 for the belt tensioner on Amazon.

The tensioners are different, although you can cut down the legs on a truck tensioner to make it fit the 5th gen camaro pump.

Thanks! I was wondering about that.

I managed to find used parts at Amazon that I usually have some good luck with. Particularly if the used item is garbage, they will usually send a new one at the same cost.
