Default Micro-relays to drive cooling fans?

I'm wanting to build a small under hood fuse block to run my dual f body electric fans and what i want to use supports micro relays,

I like these because you can get covers for them and relatively inexpensive to build. But concerned about the amperage from the fans and a mini-relay

https://www.raffenday.com/hybrid-mod...lays-iso.html?

I haven't seen these used to drive fans, but is this possible or should I stick with mini-relays instead?

I like the idea, and it looks pretty affordable. Where did you get this? I can't imagine ordering them from the UK due to shipping to the US...

You can get it from mouser, I like that uk site because they use actual pics. Take that part number and put in mousers search function.

http://www.mouser.com/

These are the same modules current performance use in their fuse box kits. Mouser will have a of the terminals and fuse covers too

I did that right before I replied I just didn't know if you had another source. The first one that comes up says out of stock, but it recommends the same part number with a -B afterward that shows in stock. Odd.

I agree on the pictures, Mouser's site is terrible for not having pictures of the product.

I thought most modern cars used the smaller relays for things like fuel pump and fans. I'll have to look and see.

This one on Waytek is rated at 35amp on the normally open circuit.

https://www.waytekwire.com/item/7566...ro-ISO-Relay-/

That might be enough for low speed fan. Almost certainly not big enough for a high speed fan, but you can parallel them.

Check the current draw on the fan you want to use. Might be marginal

For example, a 2002 V8 F-Body and 2009 Corvette use these relays for the fans according to Vatozone... Obviously I'll have to go outside and open my hood to verify.

Is that the relay style you're talking about or are we talking about the thinner ones?

That looks like a mini relay, they make a add on module for two mini-rlays that connects to the first one. I thought about just getting that and a fuse panel and doing it that way if my first idea doesn't work,

Here's a pic of the current performance set-up so you can see how the modules attach.

two micro relays and two mini relays

The mini-relay us this one here

And this is the micro-relay

I use them in the Bussman sealed fuse and mini relaybox for my SPAL cooling fan. Steady state it draws 22 or 25 amps. However, startup is over 30amps (I tripped lots of 30 amp fuses, but not every single fan startup cycle). I have a 40 amp fuse in it and it works great. To be clear: about 5k miles and so far so great, at least.

I'm assuming one day the relay contacts will fail, so I have backups in the same relay box.

The purple ones are 40 amp fuses. The 25 amp ones are auto re-setting breakers.

Here it is:

The ones pictured look the same as the ford relays used in a Taurus relay bank. Which can hold up to 8 relays. Current rating is most important. I use them all the time.

Found this site, some of it looks to be in japanese, but they have nice detailed pictures of various fuse and relay modules as well as any part number for any delphi connector you might need

I just used a bussman panel on a ls swap, just like the one DW SD used and really like it. It comes as a kit and you can wire it up to suit your needs. 85$ off of fleabay. Doesn't come with relays or fuses, fyi.
