Today I marked up the hood/fenders and got the rest of the dzus brackets mounted to the fenders..... Then I put the front fender support brackets, bumper brackets, inner fender plastics and lower rocker trim on the car.....

This week I got a Holley single plane intake, fuel rails, Edelbrock elbow and some ARP hardware for it..... I got all this stuff out of the boxes and mocked it up in place, my plan is to use the stock ported throttle body I have(we shall see)..... This set up fits my application much better then the stock LS1 intake, at least for my liking..... I will have to make a new Monte Carlo bar for this set up(no big deal)..... The only other problem I have is the back of the pass side fuel rail is a little close to the heater core fitting coming out of the firewall..... Probably not a problem, just closer then I like..... I have done some research on injectors today and the LS7 style injectors will gain me 1" of clearance on that fitting which will make me much happier(I may have to make this change.....

Here's the progress.....

Easily my new favorite Comet/Maverick build. Love your attention to detail! I sold my Maverick not too long ago, definitely regret it... Keep up the good work, man

I set the hood back on it this morning just to make sure everything had good clearance, which it did..... I am just going to use the Holley fuel injectors I have, I was able to figure out a little better routing for the hoses/fittings that I am happy with..... I took everything back off and boxed it up for the moment..... I removed the valley cover so I could mount the coolant block I previously made, I could even use the stainless lines I made before but I think I will make some new lower ones anyways..... I will get the cover and block cleaned up and repainted this week..... I also figured out where I want to put the fuel pressure regulator so I will get a bracket made for it this week too.....

Here's a pick of the car sitting on the ground with the hood on it from this morning.....

Got the valley cover assy cleaned up, blasted and painted this week..... I put it back on this morning along with the knock sensors/wiring..... I also made a bracket to mount the fuel pressure regulator this week and got that on too..... I put the fittings all in for the steam ports, made and installed the rear 2 stainless hard lines.....

I think this is all "proof of concept." I bet there is a future short block and other engine mods planned.

I hand lapped the valves to verify seats when I ported the heads..... No five angle needed at this time..... I just need to get the damn thing running.....

Today I got the front steam port stainless tubes made and installed..... I made and installed the feed heater hose from the steam port block to the firewall..... Then I installed the fuel injectors/rails on the intake with new ARP hardware and got it mocked up on the motor again(I can't bolt the intake down yet because I am going to need to get under it when I wire everything)..... Last thing I got done today is figure out what fittings I will need to finish the fuel plumbing up front.....

Man, I love how you did that! Would you mind sharing what fittings you used to connect the steam ports to the stainless line??

Excellent, thank you. I was able to find their website & also their Amazon store since I don't utilize eBay. Looking at their website shows that they offer a fair bit of stuff that could be useful for these swaps.
