CME Center mount exhaust options
Just picked up a 35th anniversary camaro with cme. How good is this muffler?
What options do I have if I want to keep cme but run aftermarket muffler/catback?
Thanks

I run CME tips on my 87 TA. I worked them in with my summit catback. I didn't work then into the bumper but I'm going to fab up some form of bumper extension to cover/set in the tips possibly in the future. The car has a 5.3 with a centrifigual supercharger, SS long tube headers, no cats and 3" dual into 4" merge which is reduced to a 3" summit catback. It's a chambered muffler but still sounds pretty good. I might swap Ina larger dynomax ultra SS as I like the tone on my 14 ram with a Hemi.
You our can run any stock style muffler basically.

I have an '02 SLP 'vert (ordered it in Mar '02) with CME. I always thought the stock muffler sounded too tame. Finally ordered a GMMG from Hawks this past year...coupled with a Tick Polluter II, it is LOUD AND NASTY sounding, but soo cool! I'm old school and it's perfect! This year will be this car's 5th Power Tour...can't wait!

Need some more info. What are you wanting to do with the car? Just have it sound good and keep the CME or are there plans for more power? For me, I wanted a CME and I wanted it to be quiet when pulling in and out of my garage, with the ability to have it wake the dead when I wanted with more power. One option is to put some long tubes with a Y pipe and weld in dual 3 inch DMH electric cutouts on the Y-pipe and then use a Dynomax muffler #17227. "quiet" when need be, and loud when need be at the press of a button, all while retaining that CME look.
