ok, that dam caddie is starting to make me think about mine!! so if you retained the original front end, how would the ls fit? originally i was thinking of just putting a sbc in it...my cad is buried under a snow bank and its to cold and i'm to lazy to crawl under it to look...my cad would be on the super duper budget...i currently have a sbc thats fresh on the stand, that with a cam change could drop in also...but i really like the ls idea!!...truck accy's work? oil pan clearance...you can NEVER get info from cadillac people as a swap is forbidden!!! thanks for the info!!

The Cadillac front end is very strange, in that it's intended for a front sump oil pan, and because of that the steering linkage passes between the rear of the sump and the transmission dust cover. I had actually cut about two and a half inches out of the stock crossmember, trying to gain clearance for truck accessories using the
"muscle car pan" and the tie rods were going to be touching the oil pan. Plus it still had the bellhousing so high that I would have had to cut the trans tunnel way up. You could probably make it work with a custom oil pan, headers and modifications to transmission tunnel. Basicly you can make anything work lol

Also, don't forget your turbo 400 trans is bop pattern and has a long tailshaft unique to that car, along with a dual cardan driveshaft.
At one point I was wanting to keep the trans and driveshaft so I wouldnt have to fool with that stuff, it was going to come at the cost of little to no placement options for motor placement.
So the most "budget" route may be this way, it will still take figuring out the steering and crossmember stuff.
The trans would be easy without an adapter, you would just need a gm pattern turbo 400 case and mix caddy tailsection accordingly.

I chose the snow stage 2 because I liked it's controller the best.
As it turns out, it was super simple to install, and set up, and works flawlessly
That's cool to hear, we had a blast with it in Daytona for sure

Yea, the more I was trying make the stock caddy frame work, the more it just wasn't going to lol!
Crown vic front end was solution to all the fitment issues.
I say go for it! The fun is in having something unique!
What about building the caddy motor? Mine was actually later model 500(75) with the (70) heads on it, it wasn't no slouch!

Thanks mike! Your turbo hasn't skipped a beat, and is loud! I've probably put about 600 miles on the car and already (today ) had swap the rear tires around because the right rear mysteriously lost all it's tread..........

Defective rear tire.....

I wasn't even being a hairball when it happend! I'm gonna pull it today and take to the tranny guy for autopsy.
I was planning on changing converter to a lower stall speed just didn't want it to happen like this.

Ohwell, all I can say it's been a freakin' blast in this thing!
