After getting the deal I got on the FAST 90mm intake, I figured I might as well go that route. Since the FAST 90 is the same as the FAST 92, and my FAST 90 is ported (minus the inlet), I figured it's going to be the most cost effective way to pick up additional power. It's also nice knowing I won't have to get different injectors or fuel rails and all that other odds and ends stuff that add up.

My WARR Performance 92mm TB showed up Friday. It's a beautiful piece. I opted for the black anodized version without the vent tube. The only thing I'm waiting on now is the FTP 98mm clear lid. I'll get some pictures of the TB up tonight. I am really impressed with the quality and finish if the product. Jason over at WARR was very informative and easy to work with. He answered all the questions I had and provided some really good feedback regarding my setup.

I swapped from a fast 92 to a 102 intake and had a nick Williams on my 92. I went with the WARR 102 throttle body. The fit and finish is amazing for the money. It rivals the nick Williams easily in my opinion. Haven't got the car running yet though so no comments on drivability. Why did you decide not to go with the vent tube?

Mainly because my tuner told me to get the one without the vent tube. I asked Jason at WARR about it, and here is what he said:

The biggest advantage of throttle bodies without the vent tube is that you don't have to cap it off if you're not using it or remove, drill, tap and plug if you're going with a boosted application. We've found that the majority of our customers never use the vent tube, so we wanted to make things easy for those that don't need it.

The purpose of the vent tube is to supply clean, filtered air to the crankcase ventilation system. In the later drive by wire throttle bodies, GM deleted this from the throttle body and located it elsewhere. Many customers are using catch cans with built in breather filters, valve covers with breather filters or are otherwise relocating that vent line.

The port on the intake manifold itself gets full vacuum and goes to the PCV. Basically, your crankcase ventilation system will have an inlet (clean, filtered air; sometimes from the throttle body vent tube) and an outlet (going to manifold vacuum, usually through a valve (PCV) to get burned in the cylinders and our the exhaust). This actually gets overlooked quite a bit and then people wonder why they're getting oil leaks or other issues.

I finished porting the intake inlet last night. I ported it out to where there was just a little bit of a lip for the gasket to seat to. After holding up the TB to the intake inlet, the two are the same circumference. Also snapped a few pics of the WARR Performance 92mm TB.

New dyno numbers will be right away. I'm still waiting for the FTP 98mm clear lid. I have not received notification it's shipped yet. I have everything else. I still need to remove the LS6 intake, but I can knock that out in an evening after work. Plan is to install everything, drive it over to my buddies shop (where the dyno is), have him touchup the tune, and then strap the car down and see if I can break 470 rwhp.

That's what I'm hoping. I know the tune will need touched up, but just normally driving the car to get the tune touched up should be plenty safe.

FTP lid is arriving today. I snapped a few pics of my port job on the intake's inlet. It measures in right at 92mm. I test fitted the TB to the intake, and the two inlets match up perfectly.

I had planned on doing a turbo build, but I wanted to see how much I could get out of this setup. The new cam was a major improvement, and this intake/TB setup should really help too. I'd really love to put a Procharger.

Procharger you won't have to change anything.

That's what I've been thinking... but the cost of the supercharger kit is way more than a turbo. Sigh.

Got the new intake on. I had forgot about having to change out the valley cover bolts after fitting the new intake on the first time. I just need to bolt down the fuel rails and connect the hoses. I still need a few little odds and ends pieces, but it's about done.

Yeah, it won't be long. I got the fuel rail back on too. Just need to make sure all the injectors are seated properly and tighten down the intake and fuel rails. I guess I'm going to have to run the vent hose coming off the passenger side valve cover into the coupler I have going from the TB to the lid. The TB I got does not have a vent tube.

In my other thread (External Section), a guy said he did that and ended up losing a bunch of power. Jason at WARR Performance gave me three options, and that was one of them.
