That crack on the outside looks like it originates from the location of the seam between the timing cover and block. Be careful when reinstalling, make sure the timing cover and rear cover bolts are loose when reinstalling, I've cracked a pan before in nearly that same spot when I had the timing cover already installed.
The odd thing on that crack on the outside is that where the pan meets the mounting flange there is excess material, almost as if when the pan was cast there were imperfections in the mold, giving the appearance of a crack when really it's just a surface imperfection. That's my theory at least.
I appreciate the advice however, and will definitely do that when it's time to reassemble the motor.
