Looks like they ran a hand full of BB's threw it. I'd take that back and shove it straight up someone's ***. And charge them $100 for the wasting my time. You just can't catch a break on this thing, I admire your perseverance.
Thanks. As for shoving it, I will be paying Mr ran when pulled a visit next week! I have bought a lot of parts from this place and have always been on good terms and have never beating them up on price, usually pay what they ask cause it is usually a good price. I would say at least I have a block and crank at this point but really want this to be drive able (bet that has never been said before)!
Oh well, another chapter and off we go!!
Oh one last thing, there were bolts dropped into the cylinders that caused all this. Must have been a completely blind person or someone was really pist at somepoint!
Got everything squared away with the salvage yard and ended I'm at $200 for a good block (as long as there are no hidden cracks) and good crank, so I'm not completely bummed. I have been searching everywhere and can not find a set of rods and pistons, stock GEN3 OR GEN4 for the life of me. I think maybe for the money it wouldn't be so bad to go with a good set of I or H beam rods and some forged pistons. Suggestions??
Spoke with the machine shop today and 408 stroker, forged pistons and H beam rods it is then. Total price tag is just under $1500 for the machining and parts including new crank. Going to reuse the BTR cam, just need to choose which heads to use.
Things have really been upside down since the end of January for some reason. Our sons health (long story with very happy ending) wife's truck and all of the above. Getting back on track sort of but in wanting to drive the S10 and get to some local races I am assembling basically a stock LQ4 to put in and run the twins. Got a set of rods from a fellow LS1 Tech member and have started assembling and checking everything. Crank is in and bearing tolerances are good so crank is bolted in and ring gaps are getting set.
Getting some of the tedious things done. Smooth out the valve covers and painted all the covers. Waiting to get a ring filer to throw pistons in. Going to redo pretty much everything with the truck for a much cleaner look. New cam is next.
Yeah I want to use the ring filer so the gap is square and even, blah blah blah. I have spent to much time fixing blown up crap that I want to put the engine together in the "right" fashion so that if it does pop it will hopefully not be from lack of attention on my part. I am replacing the ring filer I had that was borrowed by a friend (and never returned). I used to do a bunch of N/A mild street motors and never had any problems as long as the gaps were correct. It should be here Wednesday or Thursday.
Getting back on this project after getting the bug back. Got a new cam to run in the 6.0 which will be back together in the next couple weeks. Also grabbed a set of ET Radials from the swap meet today.

Short update, not doing the 408 for multiple reasons so block is together, just waiting for some parts to show up to finish assembling the rest. Have a ton of work to do for people but the April startup date for Seibring is coming way to fast so gonna get this together to see what it can do in the eigth.
Cam, timing set, and lifters all in. Bottim end all buttoned up. Heads and BTR platinum spring kit have been shipped which should hopefully be here this week. Itching to get this running and down to the 1/8 mile in April.
Only one broken exhaust manifold bolt that came out easy by welding a exhaust manifold but to the end.
Used set off 317 heads from fellow LS1 Tech came in. Here are some before pictures and will post some after cleaning pictures and what I used to do them.
