Default Looking for tire size advise on a lowered car.

Hi all

Car: 2002 convertible SS
Cuspension Mods:
Koni Str.t shocks, bmr 1.25" springs
Umi front solid 35mm sway bar, 22mm rear sway bar, 2 point sfc, Adjustbale PHB, Non adjustable LCA and all are poly mounts.

I will be going from stock 16x8" wheels that have 225/60/16 tires to American racing TTM wheels that came off a c4 vette. Front wheels are 17x9" and Rear 17x10.5".

So far I think I need 255/40/17 size for front and 285/40/17 for the rear.

Is this correct size to avoid any tire rubbing issues on a lowered car? If not , what's is a good fit?

Thanks

Depends on the offsets of the wheels.
I don't see the point in running undersized tires either way though, and they may end up looking stretched. A 9in wide wheel should have a 275 tire on it, and i would run a 305 or 315 on a 10.5in wide wheel, or atleast a 295.

On lowered I'd go 275-35 and 295-35

I'm running 315 Nitto's 555 on my rear, no clearance issues.

I was thinking 255 and 285 is because the sticky from above says the following. It's a bolt on ls1 car so if I don't need to spend money on 305 tires, I rather not and put it towards other projects on the car. Or Is the sticky not accurate anymore?

Sure, those are the minimum widths, factory cars came with 275s on 9in wide wheels, why go more narrow than that?
And as i said a 285 will look stretched on a 10.5in wide wheel, might as well save the weight and just get a 9in wide wheel for that tire size.

ok.

I'm not seeing too many options for 295/35/17 tires.
Is this normal or is there a better place than tire rack?

Thanks

try a 40 series tire instead of 35. if you had an 18" wheel, then the 295/35 would be optimal

So I measured the overall height of my 16x8" wheels / 215-60-16 tires and it is 24.5".

What would be overall height of wheels (17x9" and 17x10.5) with tires size of 275-40-17 and 285/40/17?

Thanks again
