Foxbody notch lq4 turbo build

Today I made a support bracket that ties the turbo flange to the motor. Before, the turbo seemed to be vibrating. Hopefully this prevents any cracks in the Y pipe as I haven't installed a flex joint. Turbo seems to be much firmer now.

Made it to the track over the weekend. Poor stock converter felt like it was slipping and missed third gear on one of the runs. Only got to make three passes but it held together. Next up is a converter I'm thinking about going with PTC and a shift kit. Even with a shitty 60ft and skating through first gear managed a 129 mph pass.

If you use an intercooler piping kit from CX racing they place the bov directly on the battery making it impossible to tie the battery down. When I called them to suggest they move it they told me it's intended to relocate the battery to the truck, not something I want to do. I simply moved the bov over 90 degrees. Came out pretty good. I'll probably cover up the tube with some exhaust wrap.

Its an LS motor, it don't need a filter.... JK JK
I didn't like how small the filter was and in that location it's a really tight squeeze. The car is mainly a track car doesn't get much use. I'm going tonight to the track gonna see if there was any noticable difference without the filter.

Went to the track on Wednesday, poor turbo shut itself on after the first pass. It started smoking really bad at the end of the run. Took it apart and it looks like the oil seal on the turbine side went out. Called up turbonetics and they want 650 for a rebuild, ouch.

Anyone have any experience with these I'm looking for a seal kit.

Here's a side by side of the factory 4l80e converter vs the circle D. Factory converter weighed 70 pounds, circle D weighed in at 40 pounds both with fluid.
Got the shift kit done and reinstalled the tranny. Man what a difference. Seems like the car has more top end power and it revs quicker. My best 60ft has been a 2.0, I'm sure it will greatly improve.

Being a ford guy.... Don't know anything about horsepower . are guys just pulling the transmissions from the jy and just bolting them in? We could never do that with a t-5, let alone a aod.

Yep, the 4l80e is basically a th400 with overdrive and computer controlled. I got mine for a 100 bucks from pick and pull. It's out of a 94 2500 truck no idea how many miles it had. All I did was put new fluid and a filter. With the shift kit it should hold more power and last longer. It's held up nicely so far. I was making 360hp Na and now 600hp with the turbo setup.
