Default Old Patriot 2.5 LS6 heads - valve seal issue

I am having issues installing valve seals on my patriot 2.5 LS6 heads. They have bronze valve guides and I purchased the .565 seats from BTR that work. They claim these valve seals I ordered from them should also work but I cannot get them on.

This picture is how far I can get the seal on. I have destroyed 2-3 seals just trying to get them on. Is this far enough? My stock seals went all the way to the seat almost.

Here is a picture of the bronze guide with no seal on it. It seems much much larger than my stock guide. Almost twice as wide.

This was posted but patriot way back in the day

"They don't come with the guides. The question is because of the different I.D. on the spring bases we offer. The 8401 comes with .505" I.D. base to be used with OEM valve guides and the 8401-B comes with .565" I.D. bases to be used with most aftermarket bronze guides."

So your are obviously the larger ones.

I have the correct seats, as that quote is talking about. But can't seem to find the correct seals. I am ordering AFR seals which are .530 instead of .500 and I think those will fit. I was hoping someone had an exact match seal but I suppose no one can be for sure without seeing the head

Received the AFR .530 seals and they still won't go all the way down like on a stock head. These valve guides seem to be huge compared to the stock. What is the best way to measure and get the right seal?

I know patriot stage 3 heads use a 2.08 intake valve and 1.60 exhaust valve size. Not sure what valve guide you need but there stage 3 heads use larger valves.

Larger valves, but larger STEMS?? This is all about the valve guide and valve stem. Do the guides need machining to the seal spec?? Here's where I am a bit knowledge-lacking...

They are still 8mm stems. Afr seals are marked as .500-.530", the correct blue biting seals are .530-.565". Google 8mm x .565" valve seals and some will pop up. Make sure you check the discription though. Or swing in to your local machine or speed shop they should have boxs of seals to fit

Can't seem to find any .530-.565 that are still being produced. These are the only ones I could find that claim around .565

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...v-16/overview/

Valve Stem Diameter (in): 0.313 in.
Valve Stem Diameter (mm): 7.95mm
Valve Stem Seal Type: Positive stop
Valve Stem Seal Material: Viton®
Machine Work Required: No
Valve Guide Diameter (in): 0.563 in.

Going to try these next unless someone else has a link ! Thanks all

Like these
these particular ones are for 11/32" or .342" but I had thought that they were also made for 8mm LS stems as well

Looks like this guy has some. https://www.alexsparts.com/5-16-or-8...als-4-cyl-set/ I'd get a set of cheap calipers so you can get some measurements then give him a call to see if they'll work for you or not. Actually getting some of the measurements will help anyways with whoever you contact trying to get new seals from. Parts store employees pretty much suck anymore, if it's not for a specific year/make/model your screwed when trying to get something.

Sadly I checked these out but they are no longer in stock. Under further review of my current seals, I was able to hammer them on with a tool to get them on until the point that it bevels in, a few mm from the top of the seal.
The problem is they still do not provide enough clearance for the valve to go down .635" as the retainer just barely taps them.

Does anyone know if guides can be too tall and need to be clearanced? I've turned the motor over by hand with the seals like this and some checker springs to verify. Thanks for all the help everyone!

PLUS .050" up locks and shims under the locators to maintain pressure yet give you needed retainer to seal clearance

So I have this same problem now. What was the fix, please don't tell me you pulled the heads just to have the valve guides machined.

UPDATE! Comp Cams 520-16 seems to be working. Wanted to share in case others run into this issue.
