Default My 67 back from the dead! (Well she will be soon!)

Well guys, it's been almost 15 years since this car saw pavement, and it's damn time I got her back on the road! Doing a single turbo 2003 4.8l junkyard pick (for now) it's a VS Racing 88mm turbo and I'm running the Tick performance stage 3 4.8L turbo cam and matching springs etc. I'll be pulling the heads and doing a little chamber work and a full port on the heads (yes, I've got 1000's of hours porting experience) and possibly new rod bolts but not sure on that yet. Hoping for a semi reliable combo at around 700 wheel. Pump gas with meth low boost and race gas/meth higher boost for safety. Running eBay 3" intercooler for now, might upgrade later but it'll get me going for now. It's a big tire car, but I'll be running some of the bigger drag radials to start, just to get used to it.
wish me luck!

This is fantastic! I have a 67 firebird, just broke my Gen 3 4.8, and am putting together a Gen 4 4.8. I love these little motors.

Awesome! How much power and for how long did your gen 3 hold up? Any 1/4 data? Not many first gen F Body LS cars out there it seems!

Never got it on the dyno. It held up for over a year, and I broke it in the garage with my alky control kit. Ended up with methanol/water in the crankcase that circulated around the oiling system and etched the bearings. Tried to save it with a couple of oil changes, but spun two rod bearings right afterwards. =(

Ran it once, peg legged with a baseline tune, 12psi shifting at 6300 and ran 11.47 @ 124 mph. Beat the hell out of it for nearly a year with some tuning help, 17psi on 91 only, and it loved it, and 7200 rpm shifts.

So cool! So it sounds like it would have kept going if the alky thing didn't happen! Thx for the info, you have any Pics? Trying to get ideas on plumbing the turbo stuff!

thanks again!

There are a couple of pictures. It was kind of janky converting from the T6 to T4 and going from mild to stainless, and now the damn hood won't shut. =( Hoping to get the hot side lowered some to tuck the turbo in so I can put the hood back on it after I get this Gen 4 going again.

Man that's a tight squeeze in there! I have a complete fiberglass setup with fenders, core support, valence etc. And it looks like I might choose to build a core support myself so I can push everything forward a bit. It's been so.long since she was together I forgot how tight the engine bay is. Again, thanks for the help, I think you saved me some headaches!
