Arrow MY18 is fast, VERY FAST!
Hi there

Just watched the live videos of Late Model Restoration (Facebook) drag racing their MY18 (A10) against their GT 350R.

GT350R ran an 12.64@116mph
MY18 A10 ran an 12.02@117mph

Cars bone stock, stock tyres on both.

Unfortunately they only got three runs but all three runs were consistent low 12's as rain came.

But this is hugely promising, we know MY15's were rocking around 13.0-13.3s stock on the A6 auto at around 107mph.

So the MY18 has cut a second in the quarter mile and its crossing the line 10mph faster, well the A10 is, the manual will probably be high 12's or a 13.

Seems Ford have being very conservative about engine power as early dyno's are showing around 420WHP, which is close to 40-50WHP up on MY15 which is a lot more than the claimed 25HP crank improvement Ford have quoted.

Exciting times and as predicted looks like these MY18's will be mighty quick and with a simple tune can see those terminals going beyond 120mph with just a tune file which is very impressive.

About like a new Camaro's time. Many have been in the 11s so not anything new.

For sure but that trap speed is pretty damn good. The 60ft on that run was 1.9 something, so it has 11's easy. Plus I'm not sure on these track conditions. It was in Texas somewhere so I'm guessing it wasn't ideal.

For sure. American Muscle just dynoed the 6-speed and it made 437 rwhp. If that's truly accurate it should trap at least 118 I would think. When we see a A8 SS vs A10 GT and M6 vs M6 we will know the difference for sure

It was a private track rental in +500 DA.

According to the mustang crowd both dynos that have been done are known to be from happy vendors that always give numbers about 10-15 higher than the norm. Same thing when the SS came out. They had an SS 6 speed at 431/421 rwhp/tq from hennessy IIRC

But yeah it looks to run well. Right with the Camaro for sure.

It was also weighed at 3860lbs. That's not good....that's still gives the SS the power to weight edge. GT has the gearing and rpm

Yeah until I see them run side by side on a good clean and fair run all this means very little to me. I'm betting we will see this very soon since the Mustang crowd is probably dying to get their revenge now lol

I know it's crazy lol, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Every few years they get faster and faster. It seems to make sense that it's going to have to stop at one point lol

That's crazy fast. I can't wait to see them run at our local track. All tracks are different. I have a 2017 camaro SS auto that hasn't run close to that mph.

Yep we will know for sure when they start hitting multiple tracks and dynos. At the moment it should be taken with a grain of salt

Camero has been 11.8 stock and they've been as fast as 19-120 mph.

Look for mag times for the new mustang in the 12.4-12.5 range at 114 mph

Maybe but if I had to guess I'm gonna say the new times are going to be extremely close to the Camaro. I can't imagine Ford letting Chevy kick it's *** again with this new design lol.

12.52 @ 114.65 2.1289 60'
Friend of mines 11,000 mile Automatic 2016 SS
10/13/17 at San Antonio. Terrible starting line prep on factory rubber absolutely zero mods.

He only got one run that night. No hero runs or trickery. I say that is a very respectable hot rod by any measure. No doubt a couple of tenths to be had in a good grip run and better air easily.

Great times indeed!

Yep that doesn't surprise me. I know a guy who has a bone stock 2015 392 Challenger A8 and ran 12.4 at 113. 2015 5.0 Mustang's are usually 12.6-12.9 at 110-112 out here as well from what I've seen. So all these glory runs I hear about with the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger I've never personally seen

I had to do a lot of work to get my Street (and I mean pure street) 440 Mopar B Bodies to run in the 12's in pure street form. I don't even talk cars as work because of the BS I hear about their Uncles Nova, or their best friends GT Mustang ran (insert a nine or ten normally) from back in the day. Most people haven't been in a 13.90 car on a true 13.90 run.

These muscle cars we have now are crazy good. My wife's TBSS will run mid 12's for sure high 12's. Think about that...AWD 3SS loaded up overgrown station wagon driven by the mother of my children can roll out better than my HCI 440 67 Satellite which had 4.30 gears.

I let my friend mentioned above drive the TBSS a year and a half ago and he bought the 16 SS Camaro as a result. My 440 100% Drag Cars were fast (8, 9, and 10's) but were on trailers and Race Fuel.

No doubt the muscle cars of today are very impressive even in stock trim. Just for fun I recently ran my daily 2016 Mustang V6 down the 1/4 mile. Bone stock on all season tires it ran 13.8 at 101 with a 2.1 60ft. Not bad for a naturally aspirated 3500 lb 300 hp V6 IMO. Like 007FG mentions, this is what the big block V8 muscle cars ran back in the day. Things have come a long way lol
