Default 1984 c10 turbo ls1/80e

I got this truck from dad, originally a 6.2/700r4 truck that made it to 375k miles. I swapped a 327 in during college and it did alright. Then I had a cammed L92 in it and it was alota fun but just didnt have any low end tq, and I had the 60e apart 3 times in 1200 miles. So I jumped back onto the turbo train. Had an ls1 laying around that I put an eBay 216/220 cam in and used 1218 springs from my Camaro. My 80e in my Camaro smoked the direct drum for the 2nd time so I decided to pull it out and stick it in my truck and mix things up on the car later on.
I redid the harness so I could put the pcm on the drivers side to get it away from the turbo

Built the cross over from old exhaust I had laying around and down pipe from an old eBay f body turbo kit I used to run. I don't have ac on the truck now but wanted to leave the evaporator for that option in the future. Down pipe had more room than i initially thought.

Decided to try the trans with just replacing the direct frictions and plates and do the internal dual feed mod instead of the hd2. I'm hoping it'll live longer than 2 years behind 500-550 rw instead of 750. The friction were so warped I had to beat em out. Installed it back with the pro yank 3600. After hours of research I found the factory drive line has a 3R ujoint. I had never heard of that. Found a place that made a slip yoke for the 80e. Kinda looks funny, yoke is almost as big as the driveline.

When I swapped the 6.2 I wanted the factory gauges working. So I found you can use a 91 suburban cluster cause the speedo is drive by wire. Swapped the speedo to my dash and got the engine temp and oil pressure working as. I like the all factory look. Just gotta feed an easy to see spot for the wideband and boost gauges now.
I got it running today and need to start tuning it. I haven't done the cold side yet because with the diesel rad there's no room for piping on the drivers side. Thinking of running a smaller air to air horizontally between the frame rails.

I got it running today and cruised it about 6 miles just to check for leaks and all looked good. I haven't decided what to do with the cold side yet. I could make he regular 31x12x3 intercooler fit up front but with the big diesel rad there's no room for piping on the drivers side. I'm wanting to a narrow longer horizontal ic between the frame rails but haven't found a 3 inch one. Just a 2.5. Ordered a 3 bar map and gonna throw efi live custom os and run some boost!

Very cool build. I am curious why you didn't just change the cam and turbo the L92?

Bet that was great when you had 6.2 with the 6.2 hood ornament, so much win!
Could leave some stuff loose to rattle around so it still sounded like the old diesel powerhouse lol!

I understand that, I am in the same boat now. I have an L92 for my Chevelle but thinking about selling it because they are worth so much more and just get an L33. I could really use the extra cash for the new chassis for the Camaro.

I loved that as well! Rocking with the hood ornament says ha. Maybe one day I'll stumble across another one. I hear ya. Crazy how hi they are. But even the older engines have gone up recently.

That's the plan. Throttle cable is from an early 90s Silverado i Believe. I had to trim it a little bit where it goes threw firewall. But it works great. Then cruise control module is from an 01 Silverado. Works great!

Been driving the truck and doing a lil tuning, with outside air temps 30 degrees, iat got to 130 degrees after 6 seconds on 12 psi. Now in the works of doing a front mount ic. Also got a $270 clutch style locker from eBay coming. Gonna install it and stay with the 4.10s for now. Also got some slapper bars in as well. Hoping to get this thing to the track here in the next month or so.

Nice project. How hard was it to get the cruise working?

Thanks man! Very simple, hooked the wires up as shown in this schematic. My origanol blinker/cruise switch was broken so I ordered another and it just snaps in. You don't even have to disassemble the steering column.

Perfect! Thanks

I'm building a 62 C10 w/ an aluminum 5.3 and an 80e right now, so I'm learning a good bit about these trucks.

Got around to getting an intercooler installed and the cold side piping routed around the rad. Had a friend weld the bov, iat bung, And add some pipe. Gonna move the battery back about 3 inches and it should work. Also installed my eBay locker in my 10 bolt axle which turned out to be a 12 bolt ha. It looks really nice. Hopefully it works as good as it looks.

Little better pic of the finished setup. Installed the slapper bars and some mt 275/60/15 drs and it hooks decently if it's warmer out. Hopefully I can get to the race track soon and see how it does. Had a stroke of bad luck last week. Was driving 65 mph and the hood comes unlatched and comes up and ruined the hood and hinges. Luckily it didn't hit the cab or windshield. Found a very clean white hood at the local wrenching yard. Gonna sand it and primer it black, hopefully it doesn't stick out like sore thumb.

That dog is trying so hard to keep his butthole from freezing to the floor. And he's pretty upset about it.
