Default 02 intake removal

Do I have to remove the automatic dipstick tube to remove the intake manifold. If so, 1.will fluid come pouring out if removed and 2. if removed can I drive the car off the ramps. I would like to remove the intake while the car is on the ground.

You do not need to remove the trans dipstick to remove the intake. If you ever did remove the dipstick tube transmission fluid will not pour out. The fluid lever is at about the top of the pan where it meets the case.

I can’t count the times I’ve pulled and reinstalled my intake manifold and I’ve never removed my trans tube. You don’t need to at all. The manual says to do things a certain way and even dealers don’t do it that way, but they will charge you for it because the bill by the book.

No, I posted that to show I have had my intake off since you were kinda questioning me. That is a MSD 102 intake.

The transmission dipstick tube does not need to be removed to remove the intake. You can get to all the intake bolts and once loose the intake only needs to be lifted up maybe 1/4 - 1/2 in. and pulled straight out.

Biggest thing to watch out for is disconnect the break booster vacuum line so you don't break the oil pressure sensor on the top of the back of the block

I have had my intake off many times with it like this in the picture before the msd. I had it off 3 times in one day chasing a vacuum leak once without touching the dipstick.

I pulled my intake off this past weekend. I didn't touch the dipstick tube.

Best thing I do is take the bolt out holding the tube brace which allows a little movement and gives you a little more room to get fat hands back there.

You have to remove it or the relative bearing grease will leak out,

Good thing i bought a new sender unit. The previous idiot mechanic really screwed thing up. Broken sending unit, fuel injection connectors broken, pvc hoses broken, intake bolts loose. When you guys pull the intake, do you take the brake booster hose with it.

Correct, first thing I would do is just pull the vacuum line out of the brake booster so you don't forget and brake the oil pressure sensor

Sensors gotta come out first before the cover will come off.

You need to buy a Haynes manual or Google and you'll find the service manual.
