For aggressive street driving, the ats setup will be a world of difference with 12.6 rotors. For more track or auto x, I would do the z51 if you have the wheels. Plus EVERYTHING is off the shelf parts that you dot need to machine to fit.
This right there is why I'm gathering parts for this upgrade, it's functional, and uses, for the most part, readily accessible parts. Especially the "consumables" of pads and rotors. That coupled with the ability to clear with a smaller and probably cheaper and bigger wheel selection, makes it an obvious winner for a low budget all around car like I'm building.

I know Sam strano likes to promote the wilwood setup he sells but at 600 dollars more.... but he says the consumables are much cheaper then stock replacement options..... but like you said, if need be, I can go to autozone and get replacements parts that are more accessible

Since I have the 17" race stars in the front that clear the CTS-V/5th gen rotor setup, for me it's a go big or go home situation. A little trip to the local machine shop to bore out the rotors and it's on.

I don't have a local machine shop, so that is out of the question for me.

Also understand that mentality, and if this "project" car wasn't so budget oriented I would do the V set up as well. I was actually researching it and figuring out what I needed for it, then stumbled upon the ATS option. The machine shop I suppose isn't that bad, probably worth it to get a few sets of rotors done at once, re Cosmoline them up and stick em on a shelf for when you need em.

I'm in the process of doing this brake swap, and I went to buy a drill bit to bore out the caliper mounting holes in the spindles. I'm finding that metric sized drill bits basically don't exist, and that 9/16" is a fairly common size I can buy locally, but that is actually 14.29mm. Has anyone that's done this swap found any issues with the hole being "oversized" by about 0.3mm? I know that is a very small measurement, but I also know that the caliper mounting bolts are shouldered, so they are meant to give a positive location. I just want to make sure there are no adverse affects from going slightly larger than 14mm on the holes.

Anybody thought about the running the 6th gen Camaro brembos? They are on the same platform as the ATS correct?

I don't think 6th gen Camaro SS Brembo's are the same as ATS Brembo's. The ATS Brembo's are smaller, the Camaro SS Brembo's require a 18" rim

I should have specified.... c7 z51 are the same as 6th gen SS Brembos. Larger rotor

The ATS Brembo is the same as the LT Camaro Brembo. Takes smaller diameter rotor

Caliper hydraulics/pistons are the same, ears are the variance between the two.

****. I just finished painting my ATS Brembos because the Z51 brembos were three times the price. Didn’t realize they were the same as the SS Brembo.

I paid $298 for the Orange fiftieth anniversary calipers, loaded with pads brand new off of ebay. I'll order the C7 z51 rotors and see how this fits with my setup.

It's insane how much they are asking for the Z51 calipers with the corvette decals on them.

I’m looking at these calipers and notice there isn’t a hard brake line that wraps around the bottom? There’s a bleeder on both sides...does the fluid pass through the caliper on these or does it need that line?
