Got my th350 out and put together clutch assembly. Tried to mock up trans but it looks like the tunnel is going to need some massaging. Anyone else go through this, and I know that you can get the metal piece for the trans tunnel but maybe it can be worked over with a rubber mallet.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the th350 and T56 yokes are the same? I used a th350 yoke as a dust cover and it slipped right on and had no play.

What are you going to do with the master and pedal to connect?

Are the hooker plates the same? I know Holley owns them, and that speedtech bracket comes with a sleeve you weld onto clutch master then a heim joint to the pedal. You drill like 2 3/8” down from the center of the clutch pedal pivot and 3/8” from the edge. Sounds way too complicated when I explain it. I’ll just post up some pictures.

I just saw that speedtech 1st gen t56 master bracket and rod adapter.
I just read the instructions also... maybe that’s route I’ll go also.
I just hope or wonder if this will work with a tick master also Incase a stock clutch master won’t do its job with a clutch to handle 500 rwhp.

Not swap related but I had to get those awful looking tires off the back of it. My dad had some Toyo Proxes laying around so I put those on. Now it looks like I have too much gap in the wheel well. It’ll work until I put some bigger wheels on it.

I think It’s either 4.5 or 4.75 I don’t remember. They’re actually my dads drag wheels for now. But they’re 10” wide.

Didn’t get the trans to fit, it hit all the way around and I don’t want to cut up my tunnel if I don’t have to. I’ll have to cut up some motor mounts, or do the new clamshell mounts that Holley offers. Ryeguy has been a tremendous amount of help. With different mounts I think I will have to put a set of headers on it to clear the PS gearbox as its already barely touching now. I found a set of eBay headers for $240, but not sure how they will fit.

Yeah the clamshell setup from holly worked perfect when I mokd up the t56 setup.
I’m going turbo so I haven’t bought headers, but a local guy bought headers from eBay and they fit, just hung down a bit, but nothing to low to worry about unless your going to lower your car.

Yeah I think I’m going to go with that setup. Do you know what brand they were and maybe some pics?

I sure do not. I haven’t seen the car or guy since the swap was completed by my friend.

Oh okay, thanks for the input. And it did clear the PS gearbox with no issues?

Yeah from what I recall it did.
I was thinking of getting a set before I go turbo, but then I thought why waste money

I called Speed Engineering about some pictures of fitment and they seem just fine. These were on a Nova, but same setup.

The only thing that concerns me is they used the tall mounts to build these and it looks like it’s pretty close to that rag joint, and might get worse if I lower the motor with the new mounts. I can probably work them over just a little bit to clear.

I tried just cutting down some motor mounts and they seem to work. I cut 3/4” out and welded the top back on with some welded bracing on the sides. It dropped the pan to about 1/16” above the cross member, but that’s a little lower than I wanted. I’ll have to shim the mounts up a little bit with some washers, but all in all it worked pretty well. My manifold on driver side also looks like it will clear.
