Heads and cam swap in progress, a few questions may arise
I'm finally making the jump to do the heads and cam in my car. I've gotten it torn down to the bare heads, and decided to pull the timing cover off so I could start getting new parts on.
When I got the timing cover off, there was something hanging out on the crank sprocket that I can't seem to find in any diagrams. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

So from a quick search through the interwebs, it would appear that deleting it is the way to go. Would I be alright just pulling it off? Or is there something I need to put in it's place? And would I need to get it tuned out when I get my retune done?

There is no reason or advantage to delete it. You would need to get another hub (one that was used with no reluctor) or put in a spacer to take the reluctor's place. You will get trouble codes if you don't have it tuned out. On the benefit side, it will tell you when you have misfires.

If you are still OBD1 your PCM does not know the CPS (or reluctor) is there so simply removing it would not be a problem but you would need to get the longer 94-95 damper hub.
There is no problem just leaving it if you want to save $ not buying the different hub

your screen name suggests you have a 94....so if you do this motor was likely a transplant from a 96

Hey guys, I'm back! So I finally am about to pull the cam out. Does it matter which direction I put the lifters back in? I've read to make sure that the oiling hole is facing the back of the engine, but some of the lifters have the oiling hole facing the front of the engine, so should I be worried about installing those lifters so they're rolling in the same direction?
