New Converter Hitting Rev Limiter 2nd to Drive Shifts, Help!
Has anyone heard of this happening before and what is the fix?
Thanks,
Bill
As a result of the looser converter your engine is revving up faster than it use to and with your existing shift point the PCM can not command the shift before you hit the rev limiter. You can either raise the rev limiter or lower your 2-3 shift point.

Now the fun begins, finding someone to do the tune.
Thanks Again,
Bill
How much can I safely raise the rev limit by?
I think it must be 6,000rpm now is 6,200rpm ok for a stock motor?
I have a HPP3 I can do this with.

It is sort like a double shift, I looked at the rev counter and it's a shade over 6,000rpm.
I put the HPP3 on there yesterday and the rev limiter seems to start a 6200 for the first option! I left that stock and dropped the mph of the 2-3 shift by 2mph and increased shift firmness 50%.
I don't have a cable and any tuning software at the moment due to the high cost. I got the HPP3 for $85 so I figured it's cheap and I can use it if I put my 3.73's in to change the speedo.
Can the the tach be that far off and is it safe to go that high on a stock motor?
