Post GAUGING INTEREST ... need help pricing it all out. Local Pick Up

Do you think the following is what I should ask if I parted out my Trans Am? If anything looks too high or too low, specify what YOU think it's worth.

Motor, PCM, Wiring harness > $5,500
Forged 347 w/AFR H/C

Transmission > 2,200
FLP Level 5 w/ Yank SS3600

12-bolt > 2,000
Strange w/ Eaton HD POSI and 3.73's full ABS/TC

Wheels w/tires > 1,200
AFS ZR-1 chrome rep's w/ brand new 275/40/17 Nitto DR's

90/90/90 > 1,100
FAST 90mm intake $ TB w/ SLP 90mm MAF

Suspension parts > 1000
BMR TA, SFC/LCA/PANHARD /D/S loop/ HD Bilsteins/PCT D/S

Tank w/ fuel pump and injectors > 500
'99 plastic w/ Racetronix, wiring harness, and 30# SVO's (flow is 37#'s)

Hood > 650
WS9 fiberglass with lower airbox and filter

TOTAL $14,150

I'd still have the rest of the car left ... how much do you think it would part out for?

EVERYTHING would be for local sale or local pickup.

Please move if not fitting for this forum.

I haven't decided one way or the other, yet. You folks know that a car over 5 years old is near impossible to get financed and not too many folks have the kind of cash to buy it outright. It's simply worth more parted out. Then again, IF I do part it out, I know I will just end up later wanting another one and will sink deeper in debt. The main driving force is that my daughter is going into her 3rd year of college now ... and my son starts college next year. If the car goes, it's to help them to not have to go deep into debt. Tough decision without a doubt!

Jack you truly are a great person. The fact that you have such a big passion for these cars, and are contempt with sacrificing one of the things you enjoy most to ensure the success of your children says a lot about your character as well as your job as a parent.

Goodluck with everything, you deserve the best!

I think you are about 50% optomistic on all prices.

for example: I can reproduce the motor for less than the above. The trans is worth less used. The rear might get you 1500-1700... but I doubt it would get you 2k.

However, if you can afford to hold out for months or a year for the right buyer, you MIGHT get close to those prices.

Thanks Rob. You're a pretty good guy yourself. Don't ever sell yourself short.

Paul, a few things I didn't mention or you might be overlooking. The motor would come with everything except the intake/TB. Including ARP head bolts, LS6 valley cover, underdrive pulleys and belts and a bunch of other stuff not mentioned above. The tranny has a new Yank SS3600 and was just sent to Chuck Johnson for a complete 'freshen up', though it's nearly brand new, anyway. The rearend was built with brand new backing plates, full ABS and full Traction Control, added Strange aluminum rear support cover ... 35-spline axles ... not 31 or 33 ... other stuff, as well.

IMHO, I believe I was being very conservative on pricing. I used NineBall's Sticky and even deducted 15% from what the sticky indicates is a fair value for resaling cars/parts. Considering I have several folks who seem to be seriously interest in the entire motor, transmission, and rearend, I think I may have actually undercut myself.

That's why I am guaging interest in parting out the car. I appreciate your opinion and would like to hear from others, as well especially if you believe I am asking too much for the motor and driveline components ... or any other parts which I listed. Thanks to all for taking the time to voice your opinions here ... keep 'em coming!

I have never lashed out or attempted to instigate via these boards, so dont take this the wrong way, but I think its really shitty if THAT is the reason you dont want to have kids. The gift of life is a beautiful thing, and so is being able to raise people in this world and carry on your name, I would hope that a CAR wouldnt be the single determinant.

Transmission actually has about 8000 orignal miles on it, but, I just had it shipped back to FLP in Indiana and Chuck Johnson did a $400 'fresh up' on it and it has less than 1000 miles on it since it came back.

As for the hood, I have not forgotten about you my friend.

As for the heads, those are up for discussion. I'm taking about another week to make the decision. I might end up keeping it. I might part it out ... it's just a really super hard decision to make and I'm on the fence about it ... mainly because of the hassle about changing out the parts. I kinda' want to take it back to stock and then sell it. Problem is ... who's gonna' do the motor, tranny, and rearend swap ... without me losing money on the swap? It's tough because everything is in a perfectly running and very strong street car.
