Default oil pressure bleeds off Jegs Pan. (fixed)

have a junkyard l33 (05 aluminum 5.3) started and oil pressure was 40 psi let run hour or so. went for test drive n pressure dropped to zero slowly. cranked it back up rock for engine noise and heard nothing. oil pressure was back to 40 psi. on drove back home inoulled over 3 times killed truck n fired back up to get some more oil pressure. each time was 40 psi.
swapped cam retainer old one was worn put all back together first start oil pressurewas 40 psi n slowly bleed down at idle. turned it off n started back up and now have 20 psi on start ups.
verified pump pressure right out of oil pump and have 60 psi.
running jegs pan with moroso remote filter. verified hose routing. hoping it's rear cover issue. plan to ck pressure post filter at moroso filter block. anything or any where else to do before having to pull engine again?

Sender might be crapping out when warmed up. Stopping cools it, starting back up goes thru the cycle again.

it's mechanical gauge at factory location
oil pressure good out of pump bleeds off on top.
anyway to ck rear cover gasket? no noise from engine but hard to hear do to twin turbos n fender exit

Had the engine very long, or just installed it and it started doing it?

swapped this engine last year for low oil pressure for cousin of mine. bought it off him. oil pressure was checked at front of engine n was good. no engine noise sender was suspected.
my lm7 spun cam bearings and rod bearing. thrashed all week to get this engine together and in truck for a race to find no oil pressure Saturday morning.
rods n pistons pulled rings gapped, bearings looked great. meling high pressure pump installed, new pickup and jegs aluminum pan. o ring lubbed n not cut or I wouldn't have good pressure out of pump on driver side front port

60 psi at pump even when "other" pressure has gone flat? Not clear above..
Check for an obstruction in a gallery that seems to move into place only after a while, which might have found a new home now that pressure has gone to 20psi for now. Only thing I can think of. Wait for other better educated opinions.

Your oil filter is plugged. Had this exact same issue with same Pan and remote filter. Started, 60# of oil pressure, pressure slowly dropped to 0. Restart it does it all
over again. Changed to a new filter and all was golden. You no longer have an oil pressure bypass, it's built into factory pans. Search my name and you will see my thread in the forced induction forum.

Mine did it on a brand new engine. Did you use any kind of assembly lube on anything?

yea just finished reading ur thread.
I used Lucas assembly oil when I pulled pistons n rods to regap rings.
wix 51042 filter
no rise in pressure with rpm
truck engine came out of had low oil pressure issue, may have been fixed by cam retainer. bearings looked good.
still running good?

Look into the barbel at the back of the block.. The O-ring may have shrunk or the barbel could be dislodged.

yup, after filter swap no more issues. It's sure your cheapest and easiest test, it sure fixed mine!

thanks for all the help. got oil pressure. oil filter fixed the problem. cut oil filter apart for those curious. mind u this motor has a lot of miles not much glitter in there but more dirt like substance. the small amount of glitter may have came from turbos or drain lines.

now I got oil pushing out turbo. drain lines same did change feed lines when i relocated oil filter.
old setup came off oil filter adapter on pan under Intake and Td off to each turbo. now each turbo has a direct line from oil filter housing located at front of engine. hoping it's just to much flow. gonna T them back to a single outlet n see if it slows the oil down. no play n turbo at all
