Muffler poll for street/strip use
Looking for muffler considerations for a 98 ls1 mufflers dumped before axle. I want it noticeable at idle but not obnoxious, but loud at wide open, this is a street/strip car so i don't want any droan or headaches after a 30 mile drive. What are you running that fits this category, i was looking at spintech 3000f, borla xr1, or borla stype. Any recommendations.

cant do that, i have a 9" rear diff and the clearance is a problem for that. I dont mind loud, just not headache, droan, obnoxious loud. Looking for more adult loud, not teenager loud if you know what i mean.

not really, i called borla, spintech, etc: --- they all sell low profile mufflers and bullets that would work, i just dont want to have to do it twice and youtube vids suck when it comes to sound clips. Borlas are $250 each, spins are $120 plus install costs. I was hoping someone on here was running the borlas and the spins to get there input on it.

Like everybody is saying, Hooker Maxflow. I've had mine for many years now. Before it, I had GMMG and other systems and was famous for changing up my exhaust every six months or so. I finally found satisfaction with the Maxflow, though now that I and it are getting old, I'm finding it a little loud for my tastes in cold weather.

Been there done that. Any muffler dumped before the axle will drone and get old real quick. But if your dead set on that then magnaflow straight thru 3 inch with a 3 inch dump. I also tested the 4 inch pipe dumped before the axle and saw no gain in power but a huge loss in low end torque.
I now settle with a slp style loudmouth but with a magnaflow muffler before the axle. Magnamouth. This keeps torque down low and still is a straight thru setup. Works fine in my 430whp car with a 275 shot on top of that. Traps 136mph in a auto.

I'm looking to replace my stock exhaust for my ws6. I like the slp loudmouth but it may be too loud for my daughters. Did you replace the resonator with the magnaflow muffler?. I tried to get the slp powerflo but no one can seem to get it.. my car is all stock it's an 02 way convertible. I'm looking for a good catback exhaust

I run the Borla XSPro’s on my Chevelle. No drone, and not overly loud at cruise. 3” exhaust, x-pipe, with turndowns in front of axle. The x-pipe helped with volume some at cruise and idle, but at throttle it’s still rowdy.

The old SLP Dual/Dual without the ring of silence is my long standing favorite cat-back. It's quite at idle, normal driving and will scream at high rpm.
