Valve covers to clear yt6653 rocker arms on a .689 lift cam
I am using ict Billet 3/4" risers and stock covers.rhey clear after a whole lot of grinding but getting them to seal has been a pain. Does anyone make a cover that needs very little grinding and will seal?
I'm starting a 427 Ls3 build as well. Is that a solid lifter cam spec or hydraulic? As far as the covers go I picked up set of one inch studded spacers with o-ring grooves and they came with the longer bolts as well. I paid $75 bucks for them a few years back in the for sale section. I don't know what company was making them. Got them about 4 yrs ago.

Gotta figure in the relocation brackets, and longer plug wires. If you want the slotted set, like I’m running, with the aluminum piece to have custom machined (outsourced which is extra money as well), it’s little more as well. I guess I have over a grand in those. It’s only money!

You can always empty your wallet at something. That's the easy way. I cant see why these cant be made to work. Just looking at mine for the first time really and new fasteners will be needed to make them seal. I'm not into how engines look but how I can get them to perform for my dollars.

sure they can be made to work. Hydraulic roller you set and forget. Solid will require some periodic maintenance of valve lash. I dont want to fight an oil leak each time I reset valves.
The issue I see with running spacers is you’re now trying to seal 2 surfaces using the same oem bolts and inch# torque. The bolts aren’t even big enough to increase the torque either. One thing that might help is a thin film layer of silicone paste on the O ring seals. Also wouldn’t hurt to make sure your spacers are flat with a straight edge and feeler gauges.
Otherwise, yeah aftermarket tall valve covers will get the job done.

Well it looks like you may have to use YT’s specially clearanced spacers. You can find them on their web site for around $400. Or grind your own as was mentioned.
Well sealing them is one thing. Problem #2 is it looks like you need additional clearance for those rockers as well. Grinding would be required or use the YT5123 spacers I mentioned earlier. They provide the additional clearance needed.
