jeff's 94 k2500 4.8 5 speed
this is my 94 k2500 chevy with a 4.8 from a 99 gmc 1500. this truck was originally a 350 4l80e truck. when my brother owned it we swapped the trans for a 5 speed nv3500 because the 4l80e went bad. i bought the truck from him with a rod knock. so i pulled the motor and installed the 4.8 with about 130,000 miles. i got it running the other day using the computer from my chevelle until i get hptuners. ill try to take some better pics, but this is what i have for now pre-clean up. its an extended cab long bed. pics to come of the truck.
heres a list of the parts i used.
dirty dingo motor mounts
stock 94 radiator and fan shroud cut to work with ls hoses
threaded 1/4 pipe to 1/4 hose barb for the steam vent into the hose port on radiator
stock 94 lower radiator hose
99 gmc upper hose
99 gmc stock mechanical fan for now
94 power steering hoses
no a/c
new rear main seal and oil pan gasket
stock 99 gmc oil pan
stock 99 gmc air intake for now
15995679 pcm mount mounted to driver side inner fender
universal fuse block mounted to driver side inner fender
reworked stock 99 gmc harness (i kept the 94 wiring for the oil pressure switch, alt, starter, temp gauge switch, and fuel pump relay)
ls fuel pump trigger wire added to stock 94 relay
94 oil pressure 3 wire harness plugged into the stock ls oil pressure switch
stock 94 temp gauge switch with 3/8 pipe to 12mm thread adapter in passenger side head rear
stock volt gauge wire tee'd into the ls alternator wire
ls wire added to white wire that went to 94 coil
2005 chevy truck stock manifolds no egr
no y pipe yet( 99 gmc will not fit without significant crossmember trimming so i plan on making exhaust)
6302vsp43 pilot bearing
stock 94 clutch drilled out 3 holes to fit the 10mm bolts
jegs 555-601015 flywheel bolts
arp 134-2203 pressure plate bolts
delphi fe0114 fuel pump from vortec 97 gmc 5.7
nylon fuel lines from rail going to steel to nylon compression fittings to the original 94 fuel lines at sendin unit
23484 napa fuel filter(3/8 push connect on both ends)
new top post battery cables to a top post battery
im in the process of adding the vss wires to the trans/transfer case,
and the speedometer wire and check engine light wire to the original cluster wire.

thanks rick. i wanted to do the list because i had a hard time finding a ''parts list" in one spot. i kinda had to piece it together from different forums/builds. i hope it helps someone.

heres a pic of the truck from last summer. i didnt take any new ones yet. the passenger side cab corner is the only real rot on the truck. the rest of the body and the frame is in great shape.

that's pretty good for a truck from the north east, mine is rotted out in the same spot but on the drivers side and the rockers are getting pretty bad too, have all the sheet metal to fix it though. i like that you swapped it to a 5 speed, i had an opportunity at a nv4500 but went the 4l80e route to go behind the lq4, kinda regret that decision.

yeah we swapped the tranny when it was still my brothers truck. we went to a junkyard in binghamton and it was the only standard tranny there for one of these trucks. i wish i wouldve had the nv4500, but weve had good luck so far with this tranny. towed many cars with it. i bought a cab corner from rockauto which ill probably fix soon because the bed is still off.

its been running for a couple months now. much more power than the 350 had. the only gauge that does not work is the speedometer, but i believe its because the pcm im using (from my chevelle buid for now) i had set up for a mechanical speedo so im wondering if the output signal was turned off or something like that.unless my cluster is just bad. im also not to happy with the fan shroud so i was gonna try to find one for a v6 truck, thinking it would be deeper so the radiator hose might go around the hump for the fan.

Didnt realize it was even more GMT 400 owners on board such as myself. Do you plan on using the truck as a tow pig ?
My truck is a 97 model c2500 454 vortec truck with a 4L80E. Picked it up from a friend for 1800 dollars.

oh yeah this is our tow truck. havent used it yet for towing since the new motor just hauled some sheet rock and other materials, but it feels like it will tow better but we'll see.

Most guys on here have newer trucks or high dollar diesels and they look down on the GMT 400 trucks.

i have a 96 k2500 diesel too but i prefer the gas motor, i dont know enough about diesels to care about them. and i dont have money for a newer truck, plus i just like the gmt400s.

i don't tow much with mine, mostly because i don't trust the 4l60e (I'm on my second one) but that's why i went with the lq4/4l80e combo so i can eventually get a car trailer to tow my Camaro around and any other project cars i may acquire. the gmt400 trucks are by far my favorite body style for a fullsize truck, don't ever plan on getting rid of mine. two more years and it'll be emissions exempt as well so i can go crazy with it

thanks! yeah I'm pretty sure that's how it works in NH too for 25+ OBDII, they just plug it in and if no codes its good besides the visual safety check. my 94 Camaro literally takes 10 minutes to get inspected, they pull it in do a quick visual without jacking it up and plug in to check codes and done. i usually have more of an issue passing my mostly stock performing truck than the built/stroked Camaro lol
