Default Literature Recommendation

Hello Guys,

I'm new in the small block V8 world.

There is a great deal of knowledge and expertise in here.
I'd love to learn more about these engines before posting and asking questions about them.

Could you guys recommend some literature that does a deep dive into the GEN IV engines. (Not Magazines)

Does GM offers a dealers training manual that i can buy to read?

Stupid question, is seems like every specification i read about these engine are in SAE. Are all the fasteners around the engine the same as well?

If so i have to start buying SAE tools as i own none.

thanks

Go on Amazon and search "LS engine books".
The ones from Car Tech (S-A Design) are as good as any, along with those from Motorbooks.
Most hardware on LS engines is metric.

Zimmie, don’t be shy about asking questions in here. I’ll answer anything you want to know about these things, as best as I can.

thanks.. will do. I'm sure you guys will be able to answer my questions.
I first like to get familiar with the engine before asking any questions.

I'm interested in design philosophy behind the evolution of each engine.
e.g. a deep dive of evolution in fuel system, block material, pistons types, head type, valve type, intake manifolds etc. of each engines.

With the huge aftermarket support this amazing engine have, it will be wise for me personally seek and understand what and why GM engineering and evolved in these motors before getting into it.

There are million literature on how to swap, build, rebuild etc.

So far i have found nothing on philosophy, engineering and evolution which is a bummer.

Buy this:
Amazon Amazon

I used this book to build my first engine. With a little mechanical skill, you can rebuild an engine by following this book too.
