Default 1998 Camaroi LS2 75mm Rear Mount Turbo Donuts/drifting on grass video

Back in 2013 we were at a photoshoot and had this parcel of privately owned land in front of us. Took advantage of this with the Camaro and bring on drag radials...slippery but fun. Love hearing the turbo noises...

Rear mounts certainly bring out the turbo sound. Really enjoying mine still. You still running the rear mount 402?

I just think it would be easy to suck up water with the filter location on a rear mount.

Mine is 100% street car with zero sock/tube/etc. I have a filter hanging right off the turbo and drive it rain or shine and have never had an issue in 4 years with water ingress.

Not sure what dump trucks you've been listening to but mine sounds nothing like that.
The dump trucks in your area must be pretty bad *** though.

I can agree a little bit, but it's only before the car gets into boost. There are some that are dumped that really do sound like dump trucks lol.

I guess cam profile would play a big role in the sound.
I could see how a very mild cam profile might sound like that, mine however is nice and choppy as any good turbo cam should be.

We built a custom metal shroud for that turbo area and have driven it in heavy rain with no issues.
In saying that i'm not going to find a massive puddle and do full boost donuts in it as that might be tempting fate!
Yes still running a 402ci low compression LS2.

Here's a quick vid i uploaded this morning - winter start up to get heat into motor and circulate fluids during winter slumber. You can see the undercarriage of the car while on the hoist at the end of the video.

What was the fuel system? Did you ever had any fuel heating issues?

Turbine style fuel pump....sounds like a vacuum cleaner meets tornado at startup...not super loud but you can hear it.
No fuel heating issues...the turbo is removed enough and the car rarely idles...with driving the heat is dissipated out the rear pretty well.

Found an original video of the LS2 and STS rear mount 67mm turbo on a dyno. Made just over 400rwhp...lots of boost leaks and tuning issues.

Spring startup...oil blown out exhaust, no check engine lights and time to get on the road when it stops raining.

Dyno testing in 2012 or so with the stock STS 67mm rear mount turbo. Around 5lbs boost we had dialed in while testing and tuning - love seeing and hearing the exhaust vent blow off at the end of the video

Love custom cars...and this one is a Unicorn of sorts. All things considered it's been a trooper for a bit but then it didn't.
My 98 Camaro was working fine and helped me get to work at the hospital until one fateful morning....I went to start the car and was met with slow and troubled starting....then once the engine fired up it wouldn't run. I tried again and with some throttle application it ran rough but wanted to stall. We ruled out fueling (lots of fuel pressure)...spark (spark plugs all okay)....but leaned towards vacuum leak. Couldn't figure out where the leak was as i don't have a smoke machine. Had to tow it in...after much diagnostics....we are leaning towards a cracked stock/ported throttle body....massive split on the driver side near the electrical connections. Ordered a BBK 1709 80mm TB even though our intakes called for a 75mm....we'll see if this fixes the issue once it arrives.
