Has anyone found and replaced their T135-60-16 spare tire? I'm find some sizes that are close but having trouble finding that exact size. That's tight quarters back there.
I have found a T135-70-16.... which if my math is right is another 27mm taller (top to bottom).

Tire rack sells a 125/70/16 22.9” tall vs 22.4” stock . 2.2% difference.

Those spare tires aren't cheap at all. I can find one that's close enough in size. It's almost twice as much to get a radial vs. bias ply which I can't imagine trying to limp home on one of those.

Odd, when considering the age of these cars, it’s not surprising to pay a small premium; so I never thought for a moment $132 was a lot of money… It’s only one tire after all.
I live in blissful ignorance, I go with no spare tire. I lean on the alternatives when a tire goes flat like tow truck or drive on the flat. I wouldn’t hesitate to destroy a wheel if I needed to get home if a tow truck wasn’t available. Just buy another wheel/tire. Life is to short to worry over a few hundred bucks.

Anyhow ....
When a had a blowout a few months ago and found that my 25 year spare wasn't any good - why would it be? .....it would have been nice to have had that spare and enabled me to get it home 2 hours earlier and a few hundred dollars cheaper. It's an 80 mile round trip to / from work and the spare tire location has no other purpose than having one there.

Looks like that 125/70/16 is currently out of stock, but I agree that $132 is no big deal for this as it should last at least 10 years if unused/minimal use. I wouldn't lose any sleep over that. Just wonder if it will actually come back in stock though, sometimes that estimated date just keeps getting pushed farther out.

The 125/70/16 is only 1/2 inch taller, I'd be more confident about its fitment in the well (unless you've already measured and are sure the bigger tire will fit).

So for the sake of documentation - I humbly admit that it didn't fit! Don't anyone make the same mistake as I. I don't see the 125/70/16 being a problem.

Sorry about the hassle, but thanks for reporting back as I'm sure it will help other folks. Does anyone else have the 125/70/16 in stock or is it backordered everywhere?

If not too late to the thread, save your $$$ on a spare tire and get AAA. It isn't just for old folks. They will jump your battery, get you gas if you run out, and tow you any place you like for a new tire or repair. Of course AAA isn't free but but no changing tires on the roadways ever again. You also get discounts and the savings on motels for us pays for the cost each year. When our Mustang battery died in a grocery store parking lot, they took us to the local Ford dealer as I didn't want a AAA battery. No problem. When on vacation a few years back in the Trans Am, we had a flat in Roswell, NM and they found us a tire repair shop even on the weekend.
Something to think about anyway.

Actually, even with Road side service, I'd rather still have a spare with an option. In the event I have a flat, I'll have the option to wait 2 hours for a wrecker, or leave my keys under the floor mat and take an Uber home, and let the wrecker get it without me there, or swap the tire and be on the road in 15 minutes. Hmmmm .... also not a fan of leaving the key under the floor mat with over 1500 dollars of amps, speakers .....etc.

AAA pays the local tow drivers $35 for a tow. the going local rate is $70-$90 just to hook up. so AAA calls get unanswered / postponed until after all the other calls stop. which is usually well after bar time.
while there is a AAA discount at some hotels, you get a better rate simply asking for the (pick a big local company near the hotel) rate. For example, most cities have a local Cummins or Caterpillar distributor. much better rate than the AAA rate.
I now carry a small compressor and plug kit with a set of side-cutters in each vehicle along with a can of fix-a-flat. my daily driver and the wife's car do not have a spare. if neither works, then I will simply call the local tow company and pay them out of pocket.
AAA isnt what it once was.
YMMV

^^^ Yeah, our experience with them is quite different. Been members since 1991. Perhaps different parts of the country?? We haven't experienced that though any place we have travelled. I have a feeling your poor experiences are not real common or AAA would be long gone. I sure would not belong to them either if I had your waiting times. No way....

So can anyone confirm that the 125/70/16 size will actually fit the tire well properly? I mean, that's assuming this size ever comes back in stock.

Tire Rack shows that it's to be available this month on the 19th. As you stated earlier, it's a half inch taller and a hair thinner. I'm going to go for it and see. I will report back.
