Default Spray patterns coming from flywheel bolts?

About 150 miles on this. I RTV'd the bolt threads and torqued to spec. Did I do something wrong?

Default Loose Flywheel

Hi, I would ALWAYS use Loctite on Flywheel Bolts.

Like IGN-A stated, I use red Loctite and the ARP lubricant. It looks like residual ARP lubricant on your flywheel.

Hmmm. I recall learning that the crank bolts here go through the crank and could be a passage for oil leaks. RTV was recommended to "seal" them up. I'm now noticing some black on the inside of the bellhousing that was flung from these holes. I'm trying to remember if I used ARP lube on the face of the bolt. Also, this engine was first fired weeks after setting these bolts so the RTV was not still uncured.

"so the RTV was not still uncured."
Some RTV is not "oil resistant" in that it can turn to "snot". We use a lube resistant such as The Right Stuff.

I'm pretty sure the rear crankshaft flange threaded holes are blind (they aren't are drilled through).

Loctite, yes.

Are the clutch plate bolts on the outer edge okay? They look iffy.

Default ARP MAIN Grief

Hi, I agree AND ARP sold me Flywheel Bolts that "hit" the Main Bearing.
Thank Trump that I saw that problem BEFORE I rotated the crankshaft.

The crank bolt holes are through holes, the thread locker locks and seals the threads.

I've completed numerous installs per the ARP instructions successfully. ARP does not recommend using RTV on those threads.

I have seen the same "stains" on my personal setups and concluded that it was excessive ARP lubricant. Same thing happens on the ARP crank pulley bolt.

Take caution with using RTV and the possible issues it can cause inside of the oiling system.

We usually limit its use to sealing the four corners of the engine covers to the block.
