9.88 run
#23
I have a somewhat similar setup that was supposed to have run 10.84 on motor but is setup for a 150 shot. I paid $10500 for this 56k mile SS and would love to say i got it to run 9's for about that money! It has a 9" w/4.11's in it w/28" tires, but i'm swapping it for a 3" narrowed/side MWC moly unit with a spool and trying to gauge if 3.73's on the 28" would be best. What was your race weight and the da if you please??
Thanks and great numbers!!!

I've never scaled it myself. I was told under 3000lbs. Everything that could be taken out is, without it looking hacked. But I've added some weight back into it. With stock power seats, seat belts, wiper motor and headlights all put back in. I'm also looking at the burkhart tubular bumper supports. Since those were all removed and the front is starting to sag alittle and I drive this car and our roads are pretty rough.
With my turbo350, 4.11 and 30" drs I'm right on 6500 through the traps. Which is perfect for my setup and where my cam drops off. A friend of mine is trying to talk me into going to a 28" tire. But I'd have to regear and I was thinking 3.73's also. But this setup is working great for me and I don't plan on changing it.

Thats awesome man! i just ordered a whole bunch of stuff today to drop weight including a tubular front bumper from midwest chassis on here. it's not an nhra legal one like the burkhart is, it's main function is weight loss and support for the nose. it's a single 3/4" c/m tube that goes from bumper mount to bumper mount and a hoop to keep the bottom of the nose from flapping around. It's like $125-150 and is powdercoated too. Sounds super light!!
Thanks for the reply! Cheers!!

No problem. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or need pics of something.
Are you mini tubbing it? Mine is mini tubbed and I'm narrowed 3" per side also.

cool man thanks! No i don't intend to minitub as of yet. i don't wanna go too far with the car with it only being a hopeful 9 sec ride that see's more street duty (in the country) than anything so i should be able to get by on a 28" set of MT dr's or slicks if i have to.

Yeah the only down fall with mini tubs is loosing the back seat. But I can live with that, since I don't give rides in it and I have my red bird for my stockish cruiser. I don't dd either of mine but I will take them out on sunny days and cruise around.

Yea i 'might' consider mini-tubbing it if i didnt have 2 boys, but i do and they both cant wait to go for a ride in this after i get a back seat and belts back in. just scored a full front and rear set of belts and buckles in matching ebony for $50 shipped so all i need is a back seat and it's good to go.

Nice score. I had to get stock belts also to be DOT compliant. It was missing the passenger belt and there was no harness for a passenger and I needed the stock belt for the driver side also. But I'm missing the loop on the headrest so the shoulder part of the belt hits too high for me. So I need to find the stock loops also.
The other reason I lost rear seats was they raised and wided my trans tunnel some back there to give the torque arm more clearance to get the stance right.

plus that thing looks bad *** tucking a 30" tire. if you do ever try a smaller tire, put a hoosier 275/60 on it. maybe even try it with your same gear. i dont think a few more rpm would hurt it.

But if the track keeps adding more rules that are above what ihra requires (like engine diapers). It'll take the rest of the fun out of going to the track. There already struggling to keep racers out there and there going to loose some more with this rule. Especially test & tune only guys with true street cars. I'll just get some radials for the front and drive it more, or maybe get some 17" TT2's all around for a street tire. Or maybe just make a motor pass then turn on the spray and get booted everytime. lol.
I have the first week of Feb. off so I'm going to get a chance to call about diapers and see what they have or can make me. I'll let you know.

99BB. I'd like to see pics if you have any. There aren't alot of these cars let alone street cars rolling on a 30" rear tire and that are tucked as nice as 9sec93 did on this one.
