Default Another “would it break 9s” post ! Poor College student edition!

Been at this for 4 years now, the slow process of building a race car while being a full time student, and part time worker! Finally graduated this last semester so I have a little more time to work on the build with my dad, until I begin law school. So enough of the backstory, at $9 an hour this is what I have put together.

2000 s10 Stepside Extreme
Mono Leafs / Caltrac setup
90/10 Calvert front /Moroso Trick Springs
Viking DA rear shocks
Ford 9 inch 370 gear
th400 transbrake

Engine
6.0 /Ls3 head combo (stock bore 6.0)
custom cam from Martin 23x/25x 62x/62x
super victor intake
750 Holley
1 7/8 headers
arp everything
wisco protru dome piston
Stock rods

Looking to spray 200 shot

Close combo, 239/247 .624 I/E 10.8:1 6.0/LS3 combo (LY6 basically) 750 Mighty Demon, 1 headers, 5000 stall TH350.

@3450# W/ me in it, has been 10.96@121.54...still a few tenths in it....but as is w/ a 150 shot, 9.8-9.9 do-able.

So with your combo, guessing compression, and using a 200 shot....I believe you'll be in the 9's

I believe you will easily see 9's with that set up. Truck has to be fairly light?

Thank you, I think the truck should be around 3000-3200 lbs. will weigh it soon and cut weight if necessary!

For sure! Just started law school so my truck has taken the back seat for quite a bit!

Made it to FL2K. Got a few passes in, the best pass was 11.90 @118 . I need to find a way to get my 60ft down. I’m consistent around 1.8-1.9 ... I was running MT streets @16psi . I have a 370 gear, Caltracs, da Vikings rear, 90/10 up front with Moroso trick springs. I understand I am super limited since my cam and converter are made for nitrous. Pretty happy with the results, but I want to improve! Any advice?

Is the truck spinning? Or is it hooking and the converter is to tight?

Took it back to the track Saturday NA. Did one pass and let off. It lifted the front tires a bit leaving at 3800rpms, let off and got back into it. Went 7.52 to the 1/8 ... 1.82

60ft cause I let off.

When I went for a second pass I didn’t leave the line. I had a lowering block on the car and it expanded when I launched causing the rear end to shift up which broke my drive shaft and the drive shaft broke one of my caltracs lmao .

I also added slicks instead of MT streets.
