Default What kind of 60's you guys pullin?

I'm wondering what it's going to take to get me in the 9s. It should be possible but I'm going to need a good 60'. I'm going tomorrow to make my first full 1/4 passes since the power increase. Last time out I ran out of gear so had to let out after the 1/8. The 1/8 mile time in my sig was with a 1.74 60'. The car should be capable of 1.3-1.4. The best so far was 1.52 but I only made 2 passes and definetly has more in it. What 60' do you guy's think it will take to get my 682rwhp car in the 9s?

This car took a 1.465 to get a 9.99 @ 136 mph, 6.31 @ 109 mph in the 1/8. Thats at Bowling Green but at another track it took me 1.390s to get in the 9s, wasnt the car though just some tracks will vary a little on 60 foot times. If your mph is in the 136-137 range you have the power to get there.

Thanks kp.
Ran a 10.42 @ 128 today in 90 degree weather with only a 1.5 60'. It may be possible in cool weather and a good 60' but right now it looks more like a low 10 second car. Either way I'm happy running 3 passes in the 10s and then driving an hour and 20mins home all on a stock block and stock 4l60e. Can't ask for much more than that, I was so stressed I was going to blow the trans but it took the beating like a man and neither over heated. It was a good day.

Default congrats

stock motor...o.k it has been done
stock trans... thats crazy at the power level and 60ft

at what RPM did the car go thru the traps ?

The car will have some better ET/MPH when the good air comes. The temps and humidity today where horrible for a setup like yours.

Nothing wrong with a 10.40 car in the heat. Just wait until it cools off and you will be amazed how much it will drop.

I miss it too, the safety stuff is what took all the fun out of driving mine. That and my insurance agent seen it

I went from 10.1x in the heat to 9.70s in 60 degree weather with the old engine so I always look forward to fall.

Thanks Larry.
It went through the traps really close but I never hit the limiter or shifted to 4th, I believe it was at 6700-6800 so really the gear is just about perfect for my setup. It only traped 128 though so that means I might be cutting it real close in the cold air if I'm traping higher.

I'm feelin ya on the safety stuff, I just put a 6 point cage in it so I wouldn't get kicked off the track and it really takes away the "street" feeling of the car. I don't like it but I still drive it on the street anyway so it's still a street car

Default I was thinking more...

not that it is always a good thing , but

The MPH for the HP doesn't seem correct to me....maybe someone a it more experienced can agree or disagree ?

do you have HP Tuners to log with ?

No log, it does seem like a low trap for my rwhp. I posted in a couple other threads and that was mentioned too. There are two main reasons I can think of, one is the weather. It was very hot and humid. I went from a 128 @ around 11am to a 125 @ around 1pm and again @125 about an hour later, so the heat seemed to steal a couple mph just in a couple hours. The mustang I raced(I posted a vid in the street racing section) was only traping a little better than me with a 131 @ 11am and then 127s the rest of the day. He said his car dynoed 700+. So he was down on power too. He had a 408 with 13psi from a ysi, so he was definetly up there in power. I'm not 100% but I think he said his car ran 9s with a 1.3 60' so his mph must have been better when he made that run, possibly cooler weather combined with a better 60'. I see no reason not to believe him. The other reason I was thinking was slip from the 4000 stall and stock 4l60e. The power I put down on the dyno was locked right? So if it's slipping I'm going to loose a good amount of power there too. I don't know what the da was but I'm sure that could have also had an effect.

I trapped 131 and I dyno'd 620rwhp on a dyno jet. the mph does seem a bit low for the hp but I would be happy with those times in 90 degree weather. good luck on getting those 9's Im sure they will come.

Thanks man. I also found out the DA was 3300 so I'm sure that didn't help either. I can't wait to get it back out there in the fall and see what it can really do.
