Help Me Indentify a 350 Please !!!

So some of you may have read my tread about cams. But I REALLY need help identifying the block.

I know nothing of Chevy small blocks nor does my autos teacher who is letting me and a friend rebuild this motor.

Basically we want to figure out what year it is. We've come up with 1986.

It's carbed.

Flat tappet lifters.

4 bolt mains.

Here's some numbers I jotted down today to help me search. If you have any questions just ask. I'd like to see if any of you guys come up with the same year we did.

If it is a 1 piece rear main seal and has no provisions for factory roller equipment then it is the one of a kind 1986, which is not a desired block for the factory roller guys like myself.

Well only thing it will ever see is an engine stand so it's not critical.

whats the block casting number? it's on the back end behind the drivers side head, or where the head would be, right above where the bellhousing bolts up and should be 6 numbers or more.

after you get the number, go to www.mortec.com and look for the number under sbc casting numbers.

If the third set of # & letters come off the front of the motor stamped in the pad that would be on the left side of the block if you were standing in front of it then the FPD means its a 1987 350 1ton truck motor w/ 160hp.
