Question SBC-Anyone ever leave the mech. fuel pump rod in after going to electrical pump?

I am taking my old SBC apart and needed the fuel pump block off plate for the other engine. After taking that plate off, out came the rod. I put this together years ago. Should i put the rod in the other engine (i am going electric pump also) to stop oil from coming down so quickly from the cam to the bottom of the engine or is that a good thing to do? Thanks guys ps it will be on the street 95% of the time.

it won't hurt anything to leave it in if thats what you want to know.without the fuel pump under it it will nevr touch the cam, but i always take it outwhen i put a new gasket there on the blockoff plate to make sure no oil leak starts.
