350 w/ 700R4 to 400 w/ Allison swap
My uncle currently has an '85 C4 'Vette. It has a 350 w/ the 700R4. He is swapping out for a built 400. He wants to put an Allison 5 speed behind it. Any one know if/how it can be done? Will bolt patterns match? Need controlers? Any links with with info would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah I took a GM training class on the Alison, my word of advise, get a 4L80E, it's not worth all the hassle to get the Alison working plus I honestly don't even know if you can because the Allison determines everything about the shift based upon how much torque the motor is making, rpm, etc. etc. etc., EVERYTHING on the Allison is electronic.

He really likes the Allison that is in his 2500 plus he says the ratings will more than hold up to his build. We already found out about needing the controler, but he says he still wants to put it all together if it can be done. He has asked about the Allison mated to the 5.7 gasser for the better gearing so atleast I have a direction to aim for. I was looking at the 6.6l and couldn't belive he wanted to put that in there. The fitting was my other big concern. I don't belive it would actualy fit in the tunnel without a lot of reconstruction of the shape but then there is still the ground clearence too with the pan.
