Just to give you an example of what you might be looking at if you did an all motor build. I have a 406 smallblock that made 565 hp on an engine dyno and this is with the A/F ratio kinda low at 11.4:1 (dont ask me why we didn't lean it out, I don't know)

Here's the list of internals

400 block bored .030 over 4 bolt splayed caps
Callies Dragonslayer crank
Manley h-beam rods
wiseco pistons
cloyes double roller timing chain
268/274@.050 630/643 lift
AFR 210 Eliminator competition ported heads
T&D shaft rocker system
Super vic intake
Holley 830cfm carb
comp pushrods
and a list of nick nacks

It ended up costing nearly $11,000 including paying the engine builder. He also had to do some extra machine work and charged us more.

There are some big dollar items on that list, you could cut back a lot from what is on there. It doesn't have to cost $11,000

Yeah I know he can cut down alil bit compared to my build but he can figure out on his own what he would want to cut out. He can get a cheaper crank for starters, sportsman rods and some speed-pro pistons. He could use a regular rocker system and a girdle( The T&D cost us 1100 bucks)

I think with a 406 I could do it pretty easy, It will be harder with a 383 to this though. I think I can do it though.
