Default TFS's Twisted Wedge Heads for SBC's,What happened??

Whatever happened to Trick Flow's Twisted Wedge Heads for SBC's?? They seemed like a really great idea.

For a guy like me who is trying to find a way to get a shallow valve angle head on LTx block and still retain a conventional valvetrain and conventional SBC headers without resorting to SB2.2 , 18* or 15* racing heads. These seems to the way to go. The 13* intake valve angle of the G1 and 16* intake angle of the G2 really intrigues me.

So how were they in real life??

If I find some on Ebay are they a good find?

Can they be effectively ported to support a high performance 396 ci LTx? (say 300 CFMs @ .500 lift)

I had a set (bone stock) on a 406 years ago. That car ran 12.20's with too little gear and too little stall. I don't think they flow anything like a modern AFR 195 or similar head (maybe 240cfm at .600). At the time, I think a new set cost $795. I think it was a good buy and I had no complaints.

They stoped making them because they wornt a bolt-on and run type of head. The pushrod length needed to be checked on the intake and exhaust, and a lot of people dont do that, and they wore the guides out and blame the heads. It gave trick flow a bad rep for a wile.

There was a set of these (for a lt1) for sale on here a wile back but they are mine now and im putting them on a 410ci lt1..

Interesting. I was at Lloyd's the other day and he showed me a set of these he was working on. Were they yours by chance?

I think the TFS Ultra 23* heads are probably a better choice for an out of the box head but nothing like 300cfm at .500" lift thats a nasty head. If you really want to spend some money and make some power you can go with a 60 40 split cylinder head they really bring some big flow numbers to the table. I have a set of experimental 10x brodix heads that have been hand done with 2.10 1.60 valves with a 225cc intake runner and when I had them flowed They put out 321cfm at .700". Takes a offset shaft rocker to make them work correctly though. Pushrods are all at angles especially on the intakes.

i also wondered if there was anyway to get a 15 or 13 degree head on a ltx without it being a full out 260cc 2.125 valve race head. i think it would require much less cam then an lt1 usually needs

Yeah those heads turn the intake ports nearly straight up and really don't have any choice but to have huge runners. That's there intended purpose you know. GM used to produce a set of iron 18* heads for certain class cars that were cheap but made great power especially on 360ish cid motors that revved to the moon and back but you don't hear much of that kinda stuff anymore.

Kind of resurrecting on my first post. I have a buddy with a set of trick flow heads he is thinking about getting rid of. Would any of you know what they're worth? They are New never been used. Or could you tell me if there is anything particular i should look for on them? I play with mopars not chevys so it's a bit foreign to me.

get some casting#'s or any # you can off the heads, or better yet, a pic works wonders.
I'm sure others will chime in with useful info but I know this will help you with a definite answer more quickly.
