Default One problem after another 350 sbc help please!

Toward the beginning of summer I purchased a 1973 Camaro, 350 sbc, and since then its a had a few problems off and on. Recently I had driven it to school, it ran fine. The next day it was running really rough and eventually wouldn't start, turns out a wire on the distributor came off but now the car won't idle by itself, even when warmed up, I need to keep giving it a little gas. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it?

Thank you,
George

I also noticed, after I turned off the motor from idling, that there was not much fuel in the clear fuel filter is this another problem?

Glad we got running today man, maybe throw up a pic of the wire and maybe somebody will give some insight. I'm not sure what it was for, I'm stupid when it comes to carbed motors..

Same here man I know nothing about carbed motors but atleast we got it running today. I'll try to put up a picture of the wire that came out. Not sure why it came off maybe from the vibration of my exhaust lol

The clear fuel filter probably won't ever stay full, I have never seen one stay full in the 40+ years I have been messing with cars.

Also, check ALL of your vacuum hoses. If one falls off it will create a big vacuum leak and lean out the engine at idle.

Post a pic of the wire you are talking about.

Here is where the wire came off it was the connector with the two black wires coming off of it.

that would be your power wire. If it falls off, it will die. The single wire goes to your tach.

Ahh that might explain why it stopped working. Should I do anything to tighten it so it won't slip off again?

GM should sell a connector with a clip on it so it won't fall off again.
