Default LS1 vs. LQ9

I recently bought a 01 Camaro SS with the LS1 in it. A couple of years ago I bought a 08 Trailblazer SS with a LQ9 in it, but Chevy says that the motor is a LS2. So what is the difference between a LQ9 an a LS2 that is sold in a Corvette?

The biggest difference that you will outright see the easiest would be that the LQ9 is an iron block and the LS2 is an aluminum block.

If you have an iron block it's not stock. It only would have had an LS2 from the factory.

The Trailblazer SS is stock except for the exhaust. Chevy promoted the Trailblazer SS has having the Corvette (LS2) motor, rated at 395 hp. The motor in it is the LQ9 and not the LS2. Did GM put the LS2 in any other vehicle besides the Corvette?

It can not be both stock and an LQ9. If it is stock it is an LS2. If it is an LQ9 it is not stock. Yes, they put the LS2 in vehicles other than the Corvette, they put it in the Trailblazer SS.

Lets put it like this dude, the TBSS only come with an ls2. If it has an lq9 which only came in the Escalades, Denali's and the SS Silverado's, then you bought a bastard child.

2nd of all, I think ls2's in TBss's are 58x crank reluctor and lq9 is a 24x crank reluctor. If somebody put an lq9 in it they sure did go thru alot of trouble. Only the Gto still had 24x reluctor ls2's.

The early TBSS was 24x. 2007 went to 58x, according my GM literature.

The 01 Camaro SS is the 2nd car that I have owned with an LS1 motor in it, so I do know a little about the LS motors. The Trailblazer SS does have the LS2 in it, but what was throwing me off was the different looking intake manifold that is used on the Trailblazer than that for the Corvette. Oh by the way xtreme2001 the Trailblazer SS is an AWD and not a 4WD. Here is a link describing the the two types of drives: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-wheel_drive
