I'm looking at building a 1971-75 two door impala or caprice and my goals are anywhere from 600-800rwhp n/a. Is that possible? If so what size block do I need and other supporting mods or upgrades?

421, 434 or 454 smallblock will get you to the lower end of your goal. 13 to 1 slugs .700+ plus roller cam, victor jr intake, 227 or bigger heads and 850+ cfm carb. 10 grand minimum, maybe more and not very streetable.

The Impala weighs a bunch. I'd key more on torque to get it moving out of the hole. A much milder bigblock maybe a better option. Check out Jeg's or Summit a crate motor most like will be your best option.

Have you ever thought about a nitrous kit? It adds both HP and TQ and will allow you to build the motor for lower RPMs, which should make it much more streetable.
