Default sbc hugger headers?

I am currently wanting to finish up my sbc swap on my 89 mustang. i currently have hooker long tube 2451HKR. they are a good fit on the passenger side with a little mod needed on the 2 of the tubes. i haven't tried the driver side yet. i can send it off to the muffler shop to get it fitted but i was wondering if you guys think it is a better idea to install some sbc hugger headers instead to avoid any clearance issues. well thats if they fit. the muffler shop charges me $100 to modify the hooker headers so that they fit and hugger headers are $80 on ebay.

engine specs:

rebuilt 355 with 305 HO heads (ported), flat top pistons with valve reliefs, stock cam, crank and rods. edelbrock performer intake, 650 manual choke carb.

tranny: stock 700r4 with corvet servo.

what k-member are you using? Dynatech and Kooks make headers to fit this application. I have Kooks on my SBC Mustang and a AJE k-member

running AJE k-member, spring perch and stock control arms.

sorry but not looking into dropping $500 or more for a set of headers.

i bought my kooks used for $300. im just saying its a lot easier to get the right parts the 1st time, next thing you know is that you have just as much if not more in trying to get something else to fit.

Just look at my build, pg. 1 at the end of post #4 and beginning of post #5

whats the model # on those Kooks you have? and where did you get them?

I tried the hooker headers i have and i to modify to tubes on the passenger side cuz it hits the firewall. and i have modify all the tubes on the driver side to go around the steering shaft.

I don't want to get sbc hugger cuz i dont' know if i would have enough clearance on the driver side.

Ive heard about s10 swap headers works fine but i prefer long tubes. i just might go with the Kooks or Dynatech after to save the headache.

What heads are you running on your SBC? We offer several different headers for different heads. Let me know and I will get you the part number you would need. Thanks

^^^^^ there you go. I couldn't tell you. I got them 3rd hand. The s10 swap headers work on ls motors in mustangs but you have to beat the crap out of the ds header. Like I said buy the correct parts the 1st time. It will save you $$$, time and headaches.

I have the 5507 on my car. One of the tubes was modified to clear the stock steering shaft. All of this was done before I got them though.

I guess the cheapest route on these is the 5507 model. Thanks for the info. I'll consider these models and i'll see which one i get.
