Default Need help!! Sbc 350

Hello everyone I've been on here a whole reading and learning more and more but I now need someone's help with building my 1997 silverado's 350 to be the best it can be. It's all stock and runs great but I'm looking to be pushing 500hp.
I have a 4.10 rear end and that was the beginning of making this daily truck a badass truck I know many of ways to get it close to 350 hp and 400 hp but too many people around here have them so I want to be different and over all faster! Thank you for your help everyone!!

If this is stock, then you still have the poppet style injectors with the iron vortecs correct?

If so, its going to be near impossible to get 500 out of those castings and even if you use the bigger runner bowtie vortecs or the Edelbrock E-tec heads that is still a tall order. The brick wall is mostly the injectors with the internal fuel pressure regulator. Most guys go with a carb style EFI intake so they can use their own pressure regulator and have the ability to upgrade the injectors.

Thats with a carb. I was speaking of doing it with the efi.

It's the newer good block, build a 396 stroker, some nasty AFR heads, custom cam, nice carbed setup and let it start breaking parts.

Why so quick to ditch the EFI?

that particular efi sucks donkey ***. the long block is good to go, the injection wouldnt even make a nice tire chalk its plastic. it wouldnt suffice as a good boat anchor either, idk what it would be good for.

Cannot say I look at many tail lights if EFI cars unless they just have 4x more money in their car. Carbs are simple and make more power. Why not?

All true but if I convert it to a carb style efi intake, I get rid of those junky poppet injectors and the internal FPR.

With the Carb style intake I can make just as much power as any carb and probably have a little better torque curve.

I will admit a carb is way cheaper to put on but the efi will pay for itself in fuel economy compared to the carb.

all in all the factory injection sucks, aftermarket FI is a great alternative if you wanna spend the $$$, carb is also a great alternative and with proper tuning can get great fuel milage too. I personally have achieved 25 mpg with a holley 0-4777 (650 cfm Double Pumper)
